Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Europe seems to don`t care much about Switch

It's just sold out every where. I thought this was common knowledge

Around the Network

But being sold out doesn`t mean much if Nintendo underships. The fact is in the second week it`s leggind behind PS4, and in North América and Japan it`s not the case. So in the best case scenario Nintendo is understimating Switch selling power in Europe, in worst case scenario europeans don`t care much about Nintendo anymore.

Being slightly less sold out than America and Japan shouldn't constitute "doesn't care as much."

Also, don't doubt the power of casual IPs in Europe. They like the PS4, yes, but they sure liked Tomodachi Life as well. Give Nintendo a chance to make games.

Well, EU is PS country. Switch will probably do alright there. However, look to NA and Japan for possible great sales for it.

Consoles need to be produced first, you know? You can't just snap your finger and boom, here are your 2.5m new Switches. They were conservative after the Wii U, this has been splattered all over this place and beyond. And you can't blame them for being conservative after the Wii U.

Around the Network

I have yet to see a switch in the wild here in Belgium. Supply is low yes, that aside Europe is Sony land. Console gamers here are extremely casual. Consoles are mainly bought for Fifa, gta and COD. SONY also is an official sponsor of the Uefa champions league which helps them a lot.

Think for yourself, question authority

Obviously demand for Switch in Europe is less than Japan and NA since it is Sony country and Europe is slightly less sold out than Japan and NA. But it is still sold out throughout much of Europe, so ya can't really have any idea what demand is until it is being met. Maybe 20k extra consoles would sell weekly in Europe if nintendo had them available, maybe 150k extra would be sold. We just don't know because Nintendo has no idea how to gauge the demand for their products.

It was the best selling system just on release, the next week the PS4 was already back to top spot. What can Nintendo do to get Europeans on board? They need some big european hits like Nintendogs, Brain Training, Professor Layton and Animal Crossing to have a chance.

Well, looking at the data it does fine in most countries. Except UK. It's doing abysmal in the UK. Why do the Brits hate the Switch?

They seem to like Mariokart, though. It's been doing much better on Amazon now that that's on the market.

It did better in April https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/bestsellers/2017-04/videogames/ref=zg_bsar_videogames_pg_3?ie=UTF8&pg=1

then in March https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/bestsellers/2017-03/videogames/ref=zg_bsar_videogames_pg_3?ie=UTF8&pg=1

Bet with PeH:

I win if Arms sells over 700 000 units worldwide by the end of 2017.

Bet with WagnerPaiva:

I win if Emmanuel Macron wins the french presidential election May 7th 2017.

Now now, don't take things to extremes like that.
