I'll have to look into this more myself one day as I don't trust Daniel too much. Not the sharpest tool in the shed that one.

Let me know what you find out.

I'll save you the trouble though.

FY2016: Game & Network Services Operating Profit = 135.6 Billion Yen

Hot damn, great news for Sony! Had no idea their game division wasn't even half of their company.

Also, hi, VGChartz. After years and years of lurking (from back when it was vgcharts.org, or whatever), decided to join in the conversation.

So they almost beat 1998. I reckon next year they will beat it no problem. What are the highest ever years excluding 1998?

Both Sony and Nintendo are doing really well it seems. MS it almost doesn't matter because they are the richest company overall by a mile.

A bit early to say that about Nintendo. But yeah Sony has done a great of building up the gaming division with the PS3.

As a supporter of all three, this pleases me. I love when the industry is healthy.

So this is including PSN right?

So? PSN isn't a part of Playstation now?

Nope, other way around, Playstation Now is a part of PSN (:

PS1 era was more profitable than PS2. That's sort of hard to believe but maybe PS3 R&D was expensive?..

Dayum making more $ than the PS2 years.

to be fair, Sony actually was not in a great financial position AT ALL during the PS2 era and was also pretty inefficient in terms of profit margins where their game division was concerned (despite the PS2 doing so well). just to put into perspective- Nintendo with the Gamecube/GBA profited more than Sony with the PS2 (the best selling home console of all time)

Incredible, and for this year they're forecasting a profit of 170 Billion Yen, or $1.52 Billion!!!

I'd be worried about Sony since most of their other divisions are tanking...badly. One division can't keep 9 failing ones up forever. Something's gonna give.
