So how much of that did they keep as profits?

~1.2 billion US dollars.
That's a lot of people who "would never pay for online like Xbox dudes."
Anyways, screw this paid online crap. It was only a matter of time before Sony and Ninty jumped in, since apparently gamers are ok with paying extra fees instead of figuring out how to connect a monitor to PC :|
That kinda makes Nintendo's numbers look more impressive honestly, but it also kinda hammers home why Nintendo is making a pay online service. Way too much money on the table to not do so.
Unless Nintendo comes up with a successful answer to PSN, I think it'll stay this way. Selling a lot of consoles is great, but only coasting on margins from hardware and software will do so much for a platform maker. I hope for their sake Nintendo will take online functions on the platform a LOT more seriously this time because they could be sitting on a goldmine.
Is that before or after they've paid for all the games? Cos turnover and profit are two completely differant things. I could turn over 500 billion pounds but if I spent 600 billion in the process I worth shit ( or more to the point -100 million)

Their Virtual Console catalog is a goldmine, we see with NES Classic how valuable it is, if they can leverage that to paid-online success they are going to do well. Particularily the idea of taking old games and adding online play to them I think could be a big money-maker for them.

What was the original title, tbone? Spill the beans.

Which is exactly why the NES Classic is taking a dirt nap. With that move, they need to make sure they have as many classic games as possible ready to play. Unleash the beast, Nintendo!

Oh okay.
And for the record, I do agree with you. I enjoyed Zelda much more than what time I had with Horizon.
