Unfair, why not US furst.

I think Marvel do this with a lot of their movies. Not sure the strategy behind it though.

probably has something to do with free marketing..

I'm going to see this in an hour :)

Imho : It's a bad movie.

I'm hoping to see it in glorious Imax 3D next week, anyone seen it in Imax yet?

Without spoiling anything, why? All the reviews say it's good.

I liked vol2 more than vol1

In no universe is a bad movie. But I can understand why people prefer the first one.

It's very, very different from the first one. The story is much more contrived this time (as opposed to the linear journey of the first), and spends far more time developing the stories (and backstories) of the characters.

This is a movie that expects you to love its characters, and if you don't, there really isn't much enjoyment to be had as the story gets more convoluted and the wonder of space sci-fi is lost because they only visit a handful of locations.

If you do love the characters enough though, you'll have the time of your life. From the very first scene it is clear how much they evolved and matured as a group - each line that's delivered, even just the way they look at each other is so different from what it used to be and you can tell how much they trust each other now. So they have a really awesome superhero team vibe to them that wasn't there before... and despite that, when they start getting personal and more in-depth into each character the emotional weight is so, so much heavier this time around. And I love that.

...um, you asked why the movie was bad. I guess some people won't like it because it's different, or at least I hope that's the case (welp).

Edit: putting it in Zelda terms... GotG was Ocarina of Time, Vol. 2 is Majora's Mask - the stakes are higher despite feeling way lower, the characters are far more developed and more emotional, but there's not much of an epic journey as it's more personal this time. I definitely like Majora's Mask more than Ocarina of Time.

Sounds like I won't enjoy it, I didn't like the characters very much of the first one. Contrived, convoluted, wonders of space sci-fi lost, superhero team vibe, I'll wait for Netflix to check it out eventually.

First one was surprisingly fun and pretty well done, the main character and the racoon were pretty likeable, it had a great pacing, a solvent direction, a cool ost and it didn't take itself too serious which I think it was the right move.

Problem is I was expecting the first one to be shit and it surprised me a lot, however now I'm expecting the 2nd to be good and I'm afraid to be disappointed.

Yea it's weird considering you guys get everything first, i saw it on monday where i live which is New Zealand.

It is not very good. I really liked the first one but this one - it felt so "soulless". I can't explain it but it's missing something. Loved Baby Groot though.

Also, as with all MCU movies, the stakes never feel high. There is no urgency - it's all fun and quips, a lot of which is not very funny.
