Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo: Switch Buyers Are Primarily Men In Their 20s/30s

I think Switch by it's very design also appeals most to adults.

Think about it: if you're an adult but you've kinda grown away from gaming, it's probably largely because it's fucking hard to get gaming sessions in with all the responsibilities of an adult. Switch lets you get your core gaming fix your smartphone/tablet can't give you, without having to go back to the freaking PS2 era on 3DS, with games that still look decent on your HDTV set.

That concept I would argue in actuality appeals most to adults. Kids don't give a crap about convenience as much because they have plenty of time and motivation to play games at all times. You'd need a fire hydrant spraying water to keep them from playing video games.

Where did they get does stats?!? I bought a Nintendo Switch and I'm 35. Oh Wait!!!

Who care about kids and teens, 20s and 30s have much more buying power. Bring on Metroid, xenoblade 2 & Animal crossing.

Nintendo have now completed every target market. DS/3DS for kiddies and teens, Wii for the grannies at the nursing homes and half time bingo entertainment, and now Switch for the 20s and 30 something. Good going Nintendo!!!

Good for Nintendo because those people can buy games they like instead of a kid who will ask their parents.

That is kind of the interesting thing too if Nintendo can build a userbase that's older, odds are their attach rate for software is going to go up. Those people have far more disposable income than kids and more desire to buy more games than casuals.

Im just a bit worried its going to be a bit half assed like the WiiU.

Wii U was marketed mainly to kids/families and didn't have the flexibility of full portability that appeals to adults. Wii U also looked like a damn toy and had the (by 2012) toxic Wii brand (associated with grandmas and soccer moms) attached to it.

Compare the image/branding/marketing of Wii U to Switch, it's night and day. Switch looks cool too, it looks like a nice piece of tech, not a toy like Wii U.

Maybe not, but I'm sure Bayonetta 2 and Devils Third wasn't aimed at kids...

early 30's people are the ones who were 7-10 when the NES came out.

not really. the kids get their parents who are 20-40's to buy them games/consoles and in much higher amount then a working professional who can't game 24/7.
