At end, only difference between "large-scale press conference" and Nintendo Digital Event, is live reactions of people who are present on those "large-scale press conferences". Both are streaming online and of course huge majority of people are watching them online.

So no, Nintendo doesnt need "large-scale press conference", for instance Nintendo E3 2014. was one of best Nintendo E3 ever, so what they need are good and strong announcements, for instance their E3 2015. was bad because of that.

Yes, they need to have good games, but they could hype them a bit more. Not just:

"Take a look at this"

*Trailer plays*

"What did you think?"

*10 minutes of people talking about the game*

"Now take a look at this"

Feels more like Im watching something made for old people to make sure they follow whats going on...

Well that goes for personal opinion, I like much more Digital Event than for instance watching people having bad jokes at live press conference. Digital Event is very interesting, sleek, informational and it's not long, perfectly goes with modern time and digital era, live press conference in comparison feels very outdated.

And no, we never had "10 minutes of people talking about the game" in Digital Event, actualy at large-scale press conference people are talking much more about games. Also Nintendo hype their games more later in TreeHouse event, that's also part of their E3 plan.

Yes they have. Just look at Splatoon, Yoshis Woolly World, Hyrule Warriors etc... Endless talking.

and Im not saying they should have a live press conference. Their 2014 show was amazing. They made fun of themselves with the help of the Robot Chicken guys and the Iwata vs Reggie fight. It was fun to watch and I was excited.

But usually after a Nintendo E3 Direct I feel like "Ok, that was what Nintendo has to offer...Hope they show more later in the week."

Huh, thought I read somewhere that they WERE doing a conference this year... I do enjoy a good conference, and was looking forward to seeing them on stage again for the first time in years.

I guess a Direct video or something will have to do... as long as I see games I like, I'm not too bothered I suppose.

This.

I will tune in to their pre-recorded E3 Direct  but I still hope to see them make big live conferences again one day.

Nintendo certainly has the fans to fill the room with hype and rich atmosphere and, personally, when you're not attending the conference and don't have the opportunity to play the games on the show floor, it just adds a bit of nerve and excitement to stream a live conference where the developers are hyped and excited as well presenting what they've been working on for several years.

I don't think Sony's E3 2015 with FFVII Remake, The Last Guardian, Shenmue 3, and Horizon: Zero Dawn had been the same if the games hadn't been revealed in front of a live audience. Same in 2016 with God of War, Resident Evil 7, Spiderman, Crash Bandicoot, Death Stranding, Days Gone, and Farpoint.

They didn't talk 10 min, and actualy Splatoon and Yoshi's Woolly World talk of developers were great, very interesting, that was E3 2014. and that was one of best Nintendos E3 ever.

Thats a point, E3 2014. was great, they had lots a and strong games to show, in comparison E3 2015. was opposite, but that doesn't have anything with form of Digital Event of live conference, but with content, what exactly they have to show.

Well excpet for 2014, Nintendo hasnt really won an E3 since 2010 imo. Have a fast paced and exciting Direct and save the talk for the Treehouse stream.

Well they kind won last E3, but that was totally different... But thats point, they dont need live conference, they just need lots a and strong games to show. Mario Odyssey is great start, new Retro game will be great and they just need another bigger exclusive game, of course with few stronger 3rd party games.

They didnt had "a large-scale press conference" like 4-5 years now.

If I'm not mistaken, their last conference was when the wii u launched. I wonder why the wii u didn't have legs. No much hype for it?

Wii U didnt had legs and it was worst selling Nintendo console because it was bloody mess, not because E3s.

It takes alot of straw to break a camel's back. Having no hype generating E3s that could reach outside of nintendo's fan base sure didn't help the wii u.
