Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo "will not be hosting a large-scale press conference" at E3

Good. I finally understood that in the current era of the internet, a live conference is outdated.

Personally, I don't need to see a live conference to get what I want, which is new games and more info on games already announced. I have social media, I can access information in a variety of sites, including this one. I can check the pulse of some of the information through all of these sites. Heck, I can even watch reactions of trailers and such on YouTube. Some of my favorite reactions don't necessarily involve a live crowd reaction. Just seeing a Youtuber crying over Zelda BoTW's story trailer at the Switch presentation was awesome as I could see how much the game and the series means to them. So not everything has to be done with a live crowd, especially nowadays.

The format information is given in be irrelevant to garnering hype and attention, only the information itself is what matters. I mean surely no thinks that if, say, a new Pokemon game is announced, that it'll go unnoticed by the mainstream just because it wasn't announced via conference, come on now!

Pretty much. I just think they could do a better job at hyping us that do watch up.

Good. They should just use the format they had on their last direct which gave quick headlines/footage for smaller titles and more time for larger announcements while utilizing special skits like they used in 2014/2015's E3 directs to both set a tone and to transition between segments.

I guess this really is the end of big Nintendo stage shows at E3. Wonder will they do the same at tgs.

Do they ever attend TGS?

That really sucks, they need to learn a lot from sony when it comes to E3 presentation, sony literally sold ps4s with the promise of games coming just through E3 show hype, i know a lot of peoplewho bought a ps4 for the FF7R alone even tho we have no idea rn if it's even coming to ps4 or ps5.

Expected...at this point I think we can assume it's the status quo.

Doesn't really matter to me personally if they do a live show or not. I would never attend one of these shows, so either I'd be viewing a live conference on my computer or a pre-scripted show on my computer. Any big announcements will gain attention quickly anyway.

So people want FF7R because of the audience reaction?
