Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo "will not be hosting a large-scale press conference" at E3

As long as there is a direct, I'm good. They are way more efficient.

Regardless to people's personal opinions on what format makes for better viewing, i think this is a missed opportunity. A big E3 presentation in the style of Sony's last one (effectively just a massive gameplay real with a bit of crowd hyping added in) could generate a lot of buzz for Nintendo. Them having a presentation at all would pull in a lot of interest, given how long it's been since their last.

This.  Definitely a missed opportunity.  I think having great E3's has really helped Sony this gen.  Just gets people even more hyped.  And now that the Switch has had a good launch, now would be the time to bring the hype and big game announcements in a good showing at E3.  Keep the momentum going and make sure you are reaching much further than the Nintendo faithful.

Big missed opportunity as usual

Personally I think no. The scripted Direct E3 events have been much better than stage events. As long as they have Mario Odyessy, Splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2, etc. there they will have a great show. I find sitting through Sony and MS' briefings to be a chore these days actually. Dull and lots of dead space.

Less about that and more of the casual person noticing a lack of Nintendo's presence, again

The Direct format has become my favorite of E3, I'd prefer they all take that approach tbh

Really hope they have an old-style Nintendo Direct, they're always enjoyable and the pre-edited nature protects them from the more embarrassing gaffs that they seem prone to lol

So who are these casuals that will tune in for a E3 press conference during work, but will not know about anything else going on at E3?

Obviously can't answer that question. I can only speak from experience when I've encountered people who won't get any Nintendo info because they don't pay attention to Treehouse and Directs. Honestly the Treehouse events are boring so I dont blame them on that end. But if you really think it's for the best that they skip the event, go for it. I'm not convinced though

Wasn't there a gif that showed people running in the convention? Was told it was to play BoTW? And that it hasn't been done since the reveal of the Wii? I could be wrong but if that's the case, then we can't say lack of presence at E3 when it comes to Nintendo.

I just think if Nintendo shows something great, then people will read about it on Facebook and Twitter. Information is everywhere these days.
