Lol. Just LOL.

What's funny about that? It's true.

If this was exclusive Sony would have said. 50000000000 times over at E3. Every PS4/PC exclusive, Sony makes sure to say it loudly.

It means by default one of MS or Nintendo are getting the game, possibly both.

Clearly Square-Enix was not willing to give them exclusivity, they could only get a timed window. This is going to be a multi-part remake that means it's probably expensive as fuck to make (and going to take years of development time), S-E is going to put it on every platform that they viably can IMO.

Also think about, this going to be what? Something they milk into three parts? Well if you don't put part I on XBox and Nintendo ecosystems, you're locked out kinda from those audiences for FFVII-2 and FFVII-3. You're staring a lost number of sales in the millions now.

If Kingdom Hearts III isn't coming to the Switch, then FF VIIR certainly isn't either.

Who says it isn't? ;)

That's Unreal Engine 4 also.

While a port is possible, i think you're being rather optimistic with your wording. The frame-rate target is likley already 30fps on the PS4, and there's a good chance it won't even be 1080p. Even if it is and they dropped it to 720p on the Switch when docked, that'd still leave a significant GPU resource gap, and do effectively nothing for the CPU and RAM. They'd almost certainly need to do more than cutting lighting effects "a bit" or geometry "a tad".

Well yeah, those cinematics are specially produced CGI sequences made by SE's Visual Works studio. You make it sound like they're a compromise :p

Scale the game down to PS3/Wii U era assets if need be. It's a matter of wanting to do it, and I think S-E has already committed heavily to Switch the moment they announced DQXI for it.

You can't just make "PS3/Wii U era assets" magically appear out of thin air. It would require a lot of work for this port. The way easier and direct PC port is a lot more plausible.

Yes it requires effort. But Switch is actually selling. Especially in Japan where it is going to be the dominant platform.

So the question isn't "if" you can do it, it's "if you want to do it". And I think Square-Enix does. There's going to be three parts to this FF7 Remake ... if they sell even 1.25 million/version a pop on Switch, that works out to almost 4 million in extra sales, that's not a small chunk of change.

Switch is much closer the XB1/PS4 than the Wii was the PS3/360, way, way closer. Unreal Engine 4 demo:

The X1 footage is recorded by a cell phone camera off a projector screen too so it's at a disadvantage there.

Very doubtful. What happened to making it for PS4 first then other platforms later.

It is unlikely the game will release on Xbox one, and if probably won't release on ps4 either.... as of November 2016 FF VII r was still getting touched up In the opening scenes of the original 7, aka they are years away from finishing this game ....

It'll release on XB1/Scorpio and Switch IMO.

It's expensive as fuck to make and will take years to make as you said. That means S-E needs to recoup huge development costs. We also know FFVIIR-2 and FFVIIR-3 are coming, and they need to get the first part out to XBox and Nintendo players to also make money off Remake2 and Remake3.

They're not going to throw all those sales away.

Even if the game doesn't launch until like 2020 ... IMO that just means it'll come out on PS4/PS5, XBox One/Scorpio, and Switch (probably a Switch mid-gen refresh will even be out by then). Sony will have their window with the game first, then it will come out on other platforms.

I don't see it. I think what you're actually going to see is an even more stretched "transition" period between gens.

Games cost too much money to make these days, developers are not going to easily let of a gaurunteed userbase of close to 200 million already (between PS4 + Switch + XBox One/Scorpio) to go start from 0-20 million with PS5/XBox Next.

This reality does not make any business sense, and that's going to become painfully true soon I think. If you thought all the multi-gen releases this transition were bad, wait till you see the next one.

The three FF7R remake's will probably cost Square-Enix over $100-$150 million to develop before any marketing costs are factored in. They need to sell as many of them as possible.

I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up on even iOS/Android in some way/shape/form, lol sooner or later.

Fixed.

It  coming to the switch will definitely look bad.

And I mean it both ways. (Gameplay-Graphics)
