Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Rumor: Final Fantasy VII Remake For Switch To Be Shown At E3

A "Play it first game" on PS4.. showing game play at a Nintendo E3 conference? Zero chance.

I'd be surprised if they got the game at all, but to the point of showing game play this year? Hell no.

this sums up what I think. the game could come (I don't think it will but it's very possible), but this is on a whole different level

Reduce the resolution to 540p for undocked, and 720p docked, reduce frame rate to 30 fps, cut the lighting effects back a bit, scale down the geometrey a tad and I could see this running on Switch.

I think it would sell very well on Switch too. Fantasy/quest games like Zelda, Fire Emblem, Monster Hunter, Xenoblade for whatever reason are doing really well on Nintendo platforms. In Japan a lot of people are going to want to play this portably too. Square-Enix could make a lot of $$$ with this.

It's already doubtful that the PS4 version will run  higher than 30 fps, so the Switch version would be like 15 fps even with worse resolution. We would get a FF15 on Switch a lot earlier than FF7R, and remember that they said they're not even thinking about it because they don't think FF15 can run on this console.

Anyway, they seem to have at least a marketing deal with Sony, so we shouldn't see the other versions before the release of the PS4 version. Fake "rumor" based on the port begging made everywhere when we didn't see "PS4 exclusive" at the end of the first trailer. Would be already more plausible if it said "PC version".

FFXV would be harder to port. It doesn't run on Unreal Engine 4. Unreal Engine 4 runs very well on the Switch.

The PS4 version from the snippet they showed ran at least at 30 fps from what I saw.

This isn't exclusive to PS4, that much is clear. IMO this would sell more on Switch than on XBox or PC too, so there's obvious financial motivation to want to do it.

My guess is this is already a done deal and has been for a long time. Square-Enix announced DQXI for Switch/NX way back when and that's an Unreal Engine 4 game too, they probably spoke about this game with Nintendo too. They agreed to some kind of deal, that's why Cloud in Smash Bros. + Amiibo was done. This is also why Sony was not able to say this is exclusive. They just have a (probably small) window of exclusivity on it, but they already had a deal with Nintendo too, so Sony could not claim exclusivity.

Lines up with a lot of stuff too IMO, like why the hell is Cloud just randomly in Smash Brothers all of the sudden with not just one but two Amiibos.

It's at least timed exclusive ("play it first on"), and you don't show other versions of a timed exclusive game before the release of the first version, and even less before even announcing the date of this release.

Unreal Engine or not, this console is weak compared to the others, let's not go back to the "everything will be ported on it thanks to UE" that we saw before the reveal of the actual line-up. Not one of the games on Switch is great graphics-wise, the best looking ones have framerate issues and they're leagues from FF7R. It would need a huge downgrade. And even if a bit of gameplay shown on PS4 is better than 30fps in the first promo trailers, it doesn't mean it will in the final game.

SE didn't even talk and even less showed the already announced Switch version of DQ11 because it's not released yet on the original consoles, but you guys think that they will do it for FF7R?

I agree with you soundwave, there are two  cloud amiibo's coming, so two amiibos just for smash brothers? i don't think so.

Joke post?

More than Xbox maybe and barely, more than PC sure. But will not sell more than the PS4 version thats for sure. The majority of the audience is on PS4 so its unlikely the Switch version will outsell the PS4 version.

The reason why Cloud showed up as a character in Smash is the same reason why Ryu showed up despite his recent game being only on PS4 and PC.

Could the game still show up on the WiiU? Yeah but would anyone want to get it if it runs like Xenoblade 3DS? lol

Joke reply?

I said clearly there it would outsell the PC and XBox version, which you then go on to agree with. I didn't say PS4 version.

Ultra Street Fighter II just magically showed up as a Switch exclusive/premiere ... these things rarely happen in a vacuum. There is no character with an Amiibo (let alone two) that doesn't have his/her/it's own prominent game on a Nintendo platform.

I assume you meant Switch there, not Wii U ... plenty of people would buy it on Switch, including many double dippers IMO. Lots of people would want to be able to play this on the go, especially in Japan, where Switch is going to destroy the PS4.

This project likely has a massive development cost too, by the time this releases Switch could have over 15-20 million users.

There are three aspects involved here.

1) Will it come to something other than ps4.
2) Will it come to switch?
3) Will we actually see game play of FF7 on the switch this year.

The first one? Yeah probably. FF12 is PS4 only, but FF15 isn't. So possible either way.
The second one? I doubt it. But the "cloud amiibo" makes it seem possible. Eventually down the road.
The third one? No. With it being "ps4 first" why would Nintendo get game play footage this year?

If the game is in development for Switch why can't they show it? Sony only has a deal for it to come out first on PS4, that doesn't mean Square-Enix is prohibited from talking about it at all for anything else.

DQXI hasn't been shown yet because it's not launching close to the PS4/3DS versions, so they don't want people waiting and skipping those versions, they want people to buy those first and then buy the Switch version later. Particularily Nintendo fans I don't think they wanted Nintendo fans going "OK I'm going to skip the 3DS version for the Switch version".

But who knows FF7R may be a different story, maybe something where the exclusivity window in a couple of months tops, in which case why not show other versions too.

If Sony had any type of real exclusivity on this they would have screamed about it over and over and over again. They do for basically everything else. The fact is they don't have exclusivity on this. Square-Enix is not stupid, this is a massive budget game that is going to be multiple parts, they were never going to lock it into just one platform.

When does PS4 first mean no other platform can show any footage?

Because that simply how timed exclusive games marketing works. You do the promotion of your game on the timed exclusive platform. We have really limited footage of the PS4 version, they won't show an other one yet... The development on PS4 is far from over, they most likely didn't even start the development of the other versions anyway (and even less the heavily downgraded Switch version).

Clearly Playstation worked out a deal with them. If the GAME is coming to the playstation first - why wouldn't the game COVERAGE be Sonys first?

This isn't a "marketing deal" this is at least a timed exclusive.  That would be like Tomb raider having shown at Sony conference before Microsoft/at the same time of them.

They already have coverage for it first ... it was first shown at E3 for Sony and again the first game play was shown at a Sony event. S-E I think would be well within its rights to say "hey Sony, we've already given you a pretty big window of showing this only at Sony events". It will be two full years since it's announcement ... that's a pretty large fucking window if you ask me.

We don't even know what the timed release window is ... who says it's any more than a month or two?

In that case they will announce the release dates and show the footage of the other versions of the game in the month after the PS4 release.

You really never saw a timed exclusive game promotion?
