Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Rumor: Final Fantasy VII Remake For Switch To Be Shown At E3

Just like a console port to the pc will make console look like shit.   See these comments are brainless, switch games look good people are just being territorial about their fav console.  Ff 7 would look fine and sell well in Japan on the switch.

Around the Network

Doubt it, although it would be smart for Japan.

The graphics of what they've shown in-battle are good, but I think the Switch could run this with a few modifications:

Compare to Final Fantasy XIII which would likely run easily on a Switch:

They'll have to make some sacrifices on certain things, and I think using FMV for the story scenes would be smart for Switch. More:

It's plausible tbh and not the first time this rumour has surfaced, both FFVIIR and KH3 have been delayed to 2018 and Switch has so far received versions of upcoming future SE games in SOM collection, DQW 1+2 and DQXI as well as its own title in Octopath and a title in development from CT's director. Business wise the Nintendo fanbase could be sold versions of post FFVI games as well the same way the entire DQ franchise had versions reach the 3DS audience.

SE are likely aware that series like Pokemon and Monster Hunter have a high chance of hitting the NS and the userbase it generates could be tapped into further with the FF franchise.

Will be a miracle if it comes to Switch.

Will likely be First on PS4 like its been announced and then XBO/PC.

No miracle needed. Just business sense.

highly unlikely. maybe the original, but not the remake.

Reduce the resolution to 540p for undocked, and 720p docked, reduce frame rate to 30 fps, cut the lighting effects back a bit, scale down the geometrey a tad and I could see this running on Switch. For the bigger scale cinematic moments use FMV (which these days is easy to compress).

I think it would sell very well on Switch too. Fantasy/quest games like Zelda, Fire Emblem, Monster Hunter, Xenoblade for whatever reason are doing really well on Nintendo platforms. In Japan a lot of people are going to want to play this portably too. Square-Enix could make a lot of $$$ with this.

Well I remembered when ff7 remake got announced as a timed exclusive on ps4. Everyone was screaming an xb1 port eventually but I always thought maybe it meant switch and here we are

It's possible - the Switch seems to sell well and ports should be doable for a low price...

It's already doubtful that the PS4 version will run  higher than 30 fps, so the Switch version would be like 15 fps even with worse resolution. We would get a FF15 on Switch a lot earlier than FF7R, and remember that they said they're not even thinking about it because they don't think FF15 can run on this console.

Anyway, they seem to have at least a marketing deal with Sony, so we shouldn't see the other versions before the release of the PS4 version. Fake "rumor" based on the port begging made everywhere when we didn't see "PS4 exclusive" at the end of the first trailer. Would be already more plausible if it said "PC version".
