Forums - Gaming Discussion - What Are Your Favorite 2017 Games So Far?

Breath of the Wild for me so far. Haven't bought anything released in 2017 besides BOTW and KH1.5+2.5 HD Remix, which I'm not sure counts because its been released before on PS3, though as separate game collections.

I want to try Nier, Horizon, DQVIII, and Nioh later on and I cannot wait for Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Xenoblade 2, FE Echoes, and FE Warriors.

BOTW
ME:A

It's pretty simple, since I've only played two. I liked them both.

Horizon Zero Dawn is the only 2017 game I've beat but loved it. Started Night in the woods and 2064 but didn't grab me. Currently stuck in Cosmic Star Heroine(help), but love it so far. Nier il start after I finish CSH and What remains of Edith Finch.

1. Horizon zero dawn
2. RE7
3. Ni oh

I haven't played a single 2017 game, but what the f*** is Night in the Woods? Looks like a bunch of cats.

Edit: I've played RE7 so that wins by default

Here's the best overview of Night in the Woods I can find. (Be forewarned: it has some spoilers.) The extremely abbreviated version though is that it's a graphic adventure that thematically revolves around the danger involved with getting too caught up in nostalgia. It's both a REALLY good coming-of-age story (Catcher in the Rye kinda stuff) and also a highly poignant social commentary that couldn't be more relevant to 2017 America. Although it has some very minor design flaws (namely: the pacing of the narrative jumps from very slow to very fast somewhat abruptly about two-thirds of the way in), it nonetheless tops my list of favorites (to date) from the current year because I've never played another game that so fully captured the many varied aspects of my worldview. I was a lot like the main protagonist Mae at that age too (still am to some degree; definitely big on nostalgia), so I related to her a lot as a character. Anyway, here's that more professional and detailed overview I promised like five minutes ago. :P

I trust your judgment, Versus_Evil, so on your (implied) recommendation, I think I will have to check out What Remains of Edith Finch next. :)

That was actually part of why I wanted to start this thread: because I kinda wanted to see what other games out there might be of quality and interest to me, besides ones that have yet to be released. I'm kind of in a lull period right now.
