Forums - Nintendo Discussion - DigitalFoundry: Super Bomberman R: Switch Upgraded to 60fps... But At What Cost?

As I said earlier, the gameplay does seem much nicer now. Single Player is still higher resolution if that matters to you, but with this art style it's hardly necessary.

For those wondering what the problem is, though, do remember that this is a launch game... think back to the recent launches of the PS4 and Xbox1, for instance, and you'll see that consoles tend not to show all they're capable of right out of the gate.

We already know from other games that the Switch is capable of more, but there's probably a reason that goes beyond the understanding of most of us as to why this game is having issues with higher resolution.

I'm sorry but this is just embarassing.
This game doesn't even look demanding.

Yeah. Looks like it should be easily running at least 720p 60fps on 7th gen hardware, I don't know what's going on here.

The Unity engine is what's going on. It's such a garbage engine, so many cases of console games using it struggling with even low quality visuals. Hell, this looks like it should be 1080p/60fps on PS3/360. There's just no excuse when the same system runs FAST RMX.

Nice to have the option to choose, definitely would pick fps over resolution

old Version:

1080p/30 fps docked and 720p 30 fps handheld

new version:

Docked: 720p60fps battle mode and 1080p/40-45fps story mode

Handheld: 540p60fps battle mode and 720p/40-45 fps story mode.

This game is ugly. How the hell it can't run at 120 fps at minimum?

It reminded me my early 3ds max renders with bad lighting and poor texturing.

Bomberman actually the kind of game you need to worry about FPS?

Considering me and my friends routinely play Super Bomberman 2 on my SNES, plugged into a CRT... no.

Haha it actually does! Frantic games like Bomberman should always be 60fps.

If only the FPS was able to be improved while maintaining the same resolution as before. This game does not seem like it would be too taxing on the hardware.

Framerate over Resolution. Good decision.

I don't know if it does or not. My point is, none of us knew or gave a shit about FPS back in the 80's and 90's and it didn't matter yet we all enjoyed the games. OOT has one of the worst frame rates you could imagine and it's the highest rated game of all time.
