Forums - Nintendo Discussion - "Rainway" Eshop Third Party App will let you stream Pc Games on Nintendo Switch

An upcoming eShop application called “RAINWAY” will supposedly let you stream your PC games to your Nintendo Switch. Wait, what?!

Yeah, according to developer Borderless Gaming’s comments on Reddit, the app will be available from the Nintendo Switch’s eShop. When the app will be released is anyone’s guess.

The Rainway website states that your games will be available at 60 FPS. All you’ll need on your PC is a GPU that supposed DIrectX 11. As for setup, the website says Rainway will take care of any necessary configuration, making the process “pain-free”

We’re still trying to process the fact that this will be coming to the Eshop. If this is true, then not only will this be a surprising development, but this might be the first application we see on the Switch.

But, if this turns out to be true, can you imagine playing The Witcher 3 on your Switch? I don’t think we’re ready for that..

I can play Witcher 3 on my Vita. I can also play Gears 4 on my laptop. I don't, though. Streaming sucks.

*edit* okay. It doesn't suck. I just see this as a feature that I'll try out and then, never use

There are lots of questions that need to be answered before making an opinion.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

So, isn't that what the Nvidia Shield does?

But never the less, if that's true. AWESOME! Can play my PC games in Bed !!! and on the Toilett!!!

Intel Core i7 8700K | 32 GB DDR 4 PC 3200 | ROG STRIX Z370-F Gaming | RTX 3090 FE| Crappy Monitor| HTC Vive Pro :3

Would Nintendo allow this? It'd be awesome if true though.

Yeah, I think I played Killzone SF once on my vita and then never again. Still I'm sure some people will find it handy.

Doubtful. It potentially cuts into their profit if i can buy a game on PC instead of Switch and just stream it.

Apparently the beta will be released next month. Devs are either really confident or delusional.

Can I get a video player app while they're at it?

Funny point -- You'd be able to play Rare Replay and Killer Instinct on Switch if this is actually true, lol.

I wonder if it wouldn't be a bad idea though for Nintendo to add this functionality to Switch through official avenues, since Nvidia basically has the streaming tech already available for the Tegra X1.

Lets say Nintendo can pick the titles (so that there isn't a conflict of interest with games actually released on the Switch). PC platform with a Nvidia card. For a $12 licensing fee (that goes to Nintendo) you can play the game on your Switch with officially mapped Switch controls and can stream that game to your Switch.

Tbh I doubt the libraries of PC and Switch would overlap much if anything if this app actually worked as well as it is claimed it would actually help Switch as a number of games it wouldn't have would suddenly be playable on it on top of being a tempting device for PC gamers to play their selection on the go.
