Forums - Nintendo Discussion - When Will We Get a Joy Con With A Real D-Pad?

I got a Switch and (finally) a pro controller. I need to get a fighting game to test out the dpad and the buttons to see which I'd prefer. I haven't really put either through their paces.

I have to say, the Pro had improved my performance in Fast RMX but my daughter still prefers the Joycons/Grip for Zelda. I jump back and forth without issue, though.

I look forward to that test.  When does SF2 come out? I just can't find much about people trying to play that with joycons.

I think it comes out in May. Should be easy enough to look up, though. The only thing holding me back if that I already have SF2 HD Remix on both PS3 and Xbox One. Nobody's online playing either, though so I'll get my money's worth on the Switch.

To be honest, I typically use Fight Pads for fighting games but there isn't enough content on the Switch to justify the purchase or even the creation of one, yet.

Why is there an issue with it having four seperate buttons instead of a crappy d-pad? Nintendo's d-pads have always been subpar IMO so having four individual buttons seens just as good. Had they made a d-pad similar to the Megadrive, that would be a whole other matter :).

I'm gonna buy USFII and try the buttons.

I played shovel knight with a sideways joycon. I love using the thumbstick in 2d platformers. It feels just as good as a d-pad in my opinoin.

These are interchangeable controllers, so I don't think that Nintendo would miss such opportunity. In my opinion, there will be shed loads of customized/limited version etc Joycons. The very first game where d-pad is essential, will be new/old Smash.

I have a similar problem, except that it's with the joysticks, and having weird misinputs a good amount of times, pretty annoying. :/

OT: Never.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

No, leave it original. No one would buy another Joy-Con L for just plus d-pad for 50 bucks.

I would.

I don't think that will come, I'm thinking the official offer is to let someone get a pro-controller.

Need to call Nintendo to see what's up, seems like a few people on reddit have a similar issue.
I've done quite a few Tetris drops with the Pro's dpad, since then I just use the joycon sideways.
