Thats excellent.Sony is a great company and they really needed the success the PS4 had(If Im not mistaken, it was the only section of Sony that was giving profits, and huge ones at that, during the period of crisis right?).
Kaz is a great CEO and I hope he continues doing what he is doing.

Sony only gets royalties and PS4 sales in theory. They have no direct income from star wars, or CoD.

| F.Scofield said: it's amazing the turn around sony did with PS4, i remember when sony was having losses after losses with the pS3 and they even wanted to separate the playstation brand from the sony brand, making it a separated company cause the PS3 was making sony go close to bankrupcy, but they still managed to do a turn around with the PS3 slim and now with the PS4 is extremely the opposite, playstation is what has been carrying the sony brand while their laptop and digital camera's department was ruining sony. good job! |
Yepp, they have done an awesome job with PlayStation 4, and more importantly building a huge digital marketplace in the form of PlayStation Store. The PlayStation Store and PlayStation Network are the real champions, and the major profit drivers. That is why it is absolutely critical that they deliver more PS4 based devices in more form factors to drive the growth of PSN and the PS Store.
Hopefully we will see PS4 based Laptop/Tablet, and a PS4 Handheld/Phone that can tie into the PS4 ecosystem and give us access to all of the Games, Apps, and Services from PSN and the PlayStation Store 24/7, no matter where you are.
If Sony can deliver more devices, and increase customer engament with the platform, the revenue and profits should contiue to increase at a very nice rate for quite a few years to come. I am banking on this, and I have jumped on some Sony shares in anticipation of PSN and PlayStation Store becoming massive in the years to come.

I don't see sony doing something like PS4 based laptop but if sony ever released a sony vaio series that could run ps4 exclusives i would definitely buy it, something similar with what they did to that xperia phone that could run psp games, man, this would e amazing.

Sony needs to unite its products around one standard in house OS, running on a standardized chip set, and all powered by apps and content on the PlayStation Store. They need to make it feel like all Products made by Sony are their to complement each other. The best way to do this would be to wrap everything under the PlayStation brand. When you buy a PlayStation TV, it advertises PlayStation 4, PlayStation Phone, PlayStation Vue, and offers discounts on these products through the PlayStation Store. It should feel cohesive. Sony has more potential than any other company on the planet. They have had some hard times due to the chaning business world, the internet, and Japanese culture. It seems that the changes that Sir Howard Stringer made, and Kaz Hirai has followed through with have turned the ship around. Now hopefully, they can continue to drive towards a One Sony future, and finally deliver One Sony products. A company which has its hands in Movies, TV, Games, Cameras, Televisions, Phones, Consoles, Audio, Cloud Services, Operating Systems, Batteries, and much, much more, should be able to achieve amazing things, if they are all working together. |
Don't think that would work for the mobile market as they would still need to create expensive phones but people who are used to android or just want a decent phone won't buy it. It might kill their sales of completely. Besides, we've seen how Windows having their own OS didn't help them. Without the Android store they will kill any hope in succeeding in that market.
The only company that can possibly get away with it is Nintendo.
Good for them. I guess that means Kaz is staying for a very long time.
