Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is emulating acceptable?

Title

Yes 126 47.19%

If the game is owned 62 23.22%

If both the game and console is owned 40 14.98%

No 39 14.61%

Everything is acceptable if it makes you happy... And is legal.

Legally I don't know but morally if you own a copy I think emulation is ok

ONLY games that are not available legally.

For example Jurassic Park Operation Genesis isn't, as far as I know, avaliable from a producer anymore.

However a game that can be obtained from a company physically or digitally, like a Nintendo game that isn't avalaible digitally (so at the moment Gamecube games are the only Nintendo games I could see one argue to be emulated, and only until they end on the VC), SHOULD NOT be emulated.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

Whoa, that's pretty amazing.

Legally, it's not up to me to decide. But morally, if you own the game in question, there's no reason you can't play it emulated on PC. There's no piracy involved.

I own both a wii and a copy of mario galaxy...

Would it be acceptble (both legally and morally) to emulate the game on my PC?

Straight up piracy is wrong, of course, but I mean, it's not like I refused to pay nintendo for any of their work...

I guess.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I agree.

If stealing is acceptable, then sure.

No. Plain and simple.

I instantly lose a lot of respect for guys who do. I doubt most people who emulate do so ethically.
