Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Zelda: focused or just dicking around?

I'm not copying the content, it's worth the click and the read.

I completely agree. I spend so many hours just doing some random shit. It's a blast. I have over 80 hrs in game but I still have one section I have not even opened up. I just barely explored the rito area and freed the the beast (final one).

I have zero regrets. Amazing game with so much freedom. I'll actually be sad when I feel like all I have left to do is beat Gannon.

How has your play been? Quick and focused or aimless?

havent played it but all this talk of how free it is has honestly put me off ever bothering to play it. I just dont have the time to just play aimlessly.

You don't have to. You can focus on the main quests and just play there core game.

bit off both, but my main aim at the start was to try and open up all the map, then to really explore each area, finding loads off cool stufff along the way. Just knuckled down and found all the memories. Still two beast left aswell. 75 hours in so far

Are you just talking about with Zelda or, like the article, in general?

I had over 100 hours before I went to the first beast.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

But am I am going to be missing a lot of stuff that way?

No. I played the main game only. I didn't care about wanering around, and getting 100%. I beat it around 40 hours. I'll do the exploring when I feel like going back to the game.

I was focused on Zelda, but you can use a different game.

It's extraordinary, the number of things to do and experiment with outside the main quest. The closest thing, I guess, is The Elder Scrolls, another terrific series. But even that pales in comparison. I finished the game a little shy of 90 hours so I could complete my review on time. Without a deadline I probably could have doubled that.

Fun and random story stuff? I think so, but nothing says you have to do it all.

That's one thing that's just so great about BotW. After you leave the tutorial area, you're free to dick around as much as you like, and the game's not gonna punish you for it either. Whether you wanna focus on the story, or just go to that thing you see in the distance, it's up to you, and it's pretty great.
