Forums - Sony Discussion - Will there be a Horizon Z. Dawn sequel

I can't say I've seen many people claim it's a "Zelda killer" (they're barley even directly competing right now, so it'd be odd to say either is a "killer" of the other), but i'd be shocked if we didn't see a sequel in some capacity. It's one of Sony's fastest ever selling games, despite being an entirely new IP. They were happy to keep the Killzone series (GG's last IP) going with it hitting 2 - 3 million LT sales per entry, i expect they'll also be interested in continue a series that managed those numbers in 2 weeks :p

Well, there was a 'will Horizon overshadow Zelda' thread on here.

Frankly all the talks about Horizon being a Zelda Killer or Equiv. can only work if the game isn't a simple one off.

Brilliant way to generate more responses haha, the only people who can kill Zelda are Nintendo :D

Otherwise, I imagine they'll make some other game first and then return for a Horizon sequel. It was too well received and popular not to revisit.

Very likely.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

100% going to happen.

Probably not. Sales were disappointing relative to installed base and the hero is female, so there isn't much more that can be done in terms of story.

For a new ip??? I hope ur serious, cuz i m afraid i'll look dumb replying to you. Remind me again How much did zelda skyward on wii in 2011 sold in 2 weeks with a userbase of 100 million. The last of Us on PS3 in 2013 sold 3.4m something in three weeks on an 80 million userbase. Horizon 2.6m in just two week on 56 million, Not to mention it even out sold much Hyped Default bundled game Zelda for switch and game deprived wii u player.

too much salt is not good for health

Of course. I hope we will also see another killzone though...

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

The game is taking over Sonys helm for Uncharted. Why do you think they are giving Uncharted a rest?

I mean it sold well and from everything I have read (haven't played it yet but plan to) it's a great foundation for a franchise. So yeah, I expect it to. I could see it and Last of Us being two of Playstation's biggest franchises moving forward to take the place of Uncharted (which is mostly done) and perhaps Infamous (I don't think there's a new one planned?).

I don't doubt there were some that think it, that's why i said not many rather than none. Even then though, i'd personally say there's a significant different between "overshadow" and "kill".
