It is great to see a show set in the DC universe that doesn't take itself seriously.  Most of the episodes have been campy and so-so in my opinion with the exception of episode 6 which was great.  I really liked Danny Pudi in Community although his character in this show isn't as likable.  I loved Alan Tudyk in Firefly and although his character is despicable (maybe too strong a word) in this show his delivery and acting is even better. Ron Funches I hadn't seen before but this guy is growing on me.  Overall I think this series has fantastic potential and is worth checking out if you haven't already. What do you folks think?

From Wikipedia:

Powerless is an American action comedy series developed by Ben Queen for NBC, and the first sitcom series set within the world of the DC Universe. The pilot, which was green lit in August 2015, was ordered to series on May 11, 2016. The series premiered on February 2, 2017

Premise

Powerless takes place in the DC universe and follows the adventures of Emily Locke (Vanessa Hudgens) as Director of Research & Development at Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises based in Charm City, that specializes in products for ordinary humans who are poised to be victims of the battles between superheroes and supervillains.

The storylines in the television series are not directly based on storylines in the DC comic franchise, including the Batman franchise.[2] Rather the premise imagines stories that run parallel to the plots in the comic franchise.

Cast and characters

  • Vanessa Hudgens as Emily Locke: Director of Research & Development for Wayne Security, a subsidiary of Wayne Enterprises that specializes in products that make defenseless bystanders in a world of superheroes and supervillains feel a little safer. She loves her job because she gets to help people.[3]
  • Danny Pudi as Teddy: Working underneath Emily, he spends his days creating time-wasting pranks as a way to make their office, that he calls "the least super place on earth", just a little less "un-super".[4]
  • Christina Kirk as Jackie: Van's personal assistant.[4]
  • Ron Funches as Ron: He works with Teddy. In the episode "Sinking Day", it's revealed he's from Atlantis, although others believed he was from Atlanta. He won't tell anyone he serves under their King Arthur Curry aka Aquaman.[5]
  • Alan Tudyk as Van Wayne: Boss of Wayne Security and the cousin of Bruce Wayne.[4][6] He aspires to work in the Gotham office with Bruce. The character was created by Batman's co-creator Bill Finger with artist Sheldon Moldoff, and made his first appearance in Batman vol. 1, #148 (June, 1962).

Atlin Mitchell has been cast in a recurring role as Crimson Fox.[7] Adam West, who portrayed Bruce Wayne / Batman in 1960s television series Batman and its theatrical feature film, narrated the pilot episode, introducing Wayne Security.[8] Marc McClure, who portrayed Jimmy Olsen in the 1978 film Superman and its sequels and 1984 spin-off film Supergirl, portrayed Emily Locke's yet-to-be named father in the pilot.[9]

I enjoy it. It's a good enough show.

Wish they didn't make every superhero have the power of flight though. They are very uncreative in their superheroes. Everyone just flies around and seems to shoot something from their hands.

But the sueprheroes are obviously not the premise of the show. It's everyday joes. But still. Just something that bugs me

I've watched it a little; not bad. Christina Kirk is hilarious and I've always liked Alan Tudyk. And, of course, Miss Hudgens is a doll.

I've seen almost all the episodes that have come out so far.

I hate to say this, but it's terrible. I wanted to like it because of the premise and because of certain actors, but the writers are not funny at all. I don't think I laughed a single time so far. Such a shame.

I agree about the superheroes and I can't remember if i've seen more than one supervillian , but like you said the focus is supposed to be on the average joes.

You didn't even like episode 6 with Van's personal bathroom?

Edit:

For me the only thing carrying this show so far is the actors, the writing has be sub-par (I wouldn't call it terrible just yet - I am much more forgiving when it comes to sit-coms and TV in general considering their budgets ans schedules).  The show is still very young and I have hopes that with the cast it can be good once the writters find their footing.

I don't like Vanessa so I haven't watched it, I do like most of the other actors so I might give it a chance.

I doubt this will change your veiw of her any (you might like her even less after a couple episodes).  She is nice to look at but her character is on the overly spunky annoying side.  If you like some of the other actors though you may be able to get past her preformance and enjoy some of the show.

Nope. I guess this show just isn't for me.
