Forums - Gaming Discussion - SJW: Most Abused Term Ever?

Well I am a person and I don't hate games that are actually about something.

In any event though, while I'm not finished with CSH yet, I can relay that, as yet, it is no more directly political than your average Zelda game. (All games with characters in them are political in one sense or another, whether intentionally or not.)

Um?

If there is any good to come from the overuse of the SJW term, is that it's an indicator to let me know the user is an idiot.

Well that's why I used the term "directly". I actually agree with Feminist Frequency's perspective on Zelda's role in that game, but that is really another whole topic that I'd rather we not get sidetracked on here.

It reminds me of someone I saw on Reddit that wanted a moratorium on female leads in video games until we determine whether or not it was being done to fulfill feminist/SJW pandering.

Since Trump became president, everything has to be labeled. You're either a SJW or a Nazi. No buts.

This offends me since I happen to like butts (but I like boobs more).

Definitely most of the people you see complaining about SJWs are just as bad.

I kind of thought of her as the heroine of the game, to be honest. This was the strongest and most fleshed-out Princess Zelda yet. But I'll drop it so as to not derail the thread. My original post was mostly a joke anyway.

I think it's used in proportion to the amount of SJW stuff that's out there. That doesn't mean that it's used accurately all the time or sometimes. Sometimes companies like to pander to certain groups for more sales or to follow trends but that doesn't mean they're SJWs. That really depends on their intent behind an action.

SJW is just one of those terms that has become shorthand for "a person or thing I disagree with". Apart from that I think it has just kinda lost its meaning at this point. People tend to throw it around as an insult, but these days using it just makes me think the person doing it just can't think of a better argument so they just call the other an SJW.

And it applies to the other side just as well. It's becoming increasingly difficult to have a rational conversation or an
argument about certain subjects without things devolving into name-calling and pointless accusations.

People hate politics in games or any entertainment. People just want to play a game without the developers trying to "school" us on how we should think. This extreme reaction is just people just trying to tell developers not to put politics in games.

Of course it could be going overboard. I haven't played or seen the game or followed the development process. I am just giving some perspective from a side.

Agree with this 100%.
