Wow, I'm surprised but I generally agree with just about everything on this list. I was hoping for diving and swimming underwater with the large lakes and beach areas, and swimming in general should NOT consume so much damn stamina. The stamina meter is fantastic for climbing, but swimming and running should consume it far less and far slower than they do. I agree about the weapons breaking too soon. I'm fine with them having a limit, that's realistic. But having them break after a handful of hits is not. Who made these things? And why do they shatter like glass, lol? I also think it would have been great if the reward for the divine beasts was more significant, with the abilities still and the heart containers, but we should also have gotten four unbreakable weapons. The champion weapons should have been unbreakable, or at least something like the Master Sword with a recharge timer. A Rito bow, a Gerudo scimitar or shield, a Goron club or drillshaft, and a Zora spear. The lack of real, proper dungeons is my main complaint though. The shrines were great, fun to do, and a nice way to break up the exploration and provide warp points on the map. But they aren't that fun to replay now that I'm on my second playthrough. Whereas, I can happily replay dungeons from Ocarina, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, etc. The Divine Beasts were all the same in design and in terms of the way to complete them, and even the boss was basically the same. Keep them for the story, but beating them should have opened up four TRUE dungeons. Large, sprawling temples or labyrinths like in Twilight Princess in particular. With four unique, distinct bosses. And then I absolutely agree that after exploring this amazing world and all the build up with the story and memories, the final fight was disappointing. Hyrule Castle as an area was awesome! But the final battle/boss was disappointing, and the ending was VERY abrupt. The 'true' ending with all the memories was decent, but could have been expanded and felt like more of a payoff. But I can't even imagine how disappointed I would have felt without the full ending, haha. But yeah, kudos to the OP for making a good list!

I beat the game, without bothering to get the memories. I didn't see the point, in them really. Link of now, created new memories. So I felt his old journey, was an early life. The only active thread that was left, was Zelda. The other champs are dead. Her father is dead. The world stopped caring about royalty etc. I was fine. But, it felt like Link's work got shafted. I'm more annoyed that there's no post game repairs. They go and model Hyrule castle, fully restored. For the flashbacks. But, we can't have that availible. Just make a special room that reactivates the Gannon fight. It be cool to be able to use the devine beasts as fast travel vehicles. And I don't mean as teleport points. I think I would of cared about them more. If they somehow allowed Link to revive the champs. Link doesn't even get a break, in Gerudo City. So he could freely walk in, as an exception.

I agree with a lot of these things except the cats. Enough with cats. It's played out...

Zelda's always been a dog's game instead of cats. Except Twilight Princess for some reason.

Anyway regarding the hookshot, it would fit perfectly fine in Breath of the Wild. Saying it would break the climbing mechanic is like saying the boat/Korok Lead mechanic is pointless because I can glide to that island anyway (or use the cryo-power). The hookshot would provide an alternative to climbing and be of help in the rain. Which can get tedious at times by the way, the rain, and could essentially be part of the bow weapon type where it breaks after a certain amount of shots. I mean this game also features the boomerang in the same way, which I'd actually consider a lot more pointless than the hookshot ever would be.

I agree with most other points in OP, though aren't feeling very strongly about their inclusion or omision either way. I don't agree with music though, like mentioned in this thread. The subtle music with emphasis at particular spots or during certain events is much, much more powerful than continues bombastic tracks like in the old games could ever be. In a game where you spend this much time in the overworld, a looping musical track would actually become annoying.

There's one point I am strongly in favor of; the dungeons. The shrines and divine beasts are cool and well done, but they're no match for the fullfledged themed temples of the Ocarina of Time/Twilight Princess/Skyward Sword calibur.

Make it real Zelda game. BotW is one of the worst in the series among the MM and Oracle games.

Their goal was to break away from the conventions of Zelda while use influence from the original. You're saying that they should not go for their goal?

If their goal is create giant empty world filled wih 6 enemy types, korok seeds and useless shrines - hell no, they shouldn't. LoZ series is beloved for unique dungeons, unique items, bossfights and memorable OST. BotW have nothing of it.
