Forums - Politics Discussion - Russians what do you think of Canada?

Oh, you're not getting out of this relationship, that easy, Canada. When WW III kicks off, you're on OUR side. Good ol' Canada and America. Friends forever. FRIENDS 'TIL THE END.

Well aren't a country's leaders supposed to be the representatives of their people?

Depends on percentages that voted for them. COuld have an election where less than half the people vote for someone and they are elected the leader.

no. Why would you think that?

Well, they have blocked some sites in Russia and I believe they plan to control the Internet much more in the future. But I guess VGC shouldn't be a problem to go to yet.

The only sites that are getting blocked are the sites used to share illegal content. For example sites that share information about drugs synthesis, sites with pirated content. Some porn sites got banned a few times as well but they were unbanned quite quickly.

Or sites that promote gay rights and non-Christian beliefs, right? Because Putin hates non-Christians and homosexuals.

No, sites promoting extremism, terrorism and suicides are blocked in Russia.

The problem is that "blocking sites promoting extremism and terrorism" can also hit sites which aren't that bad as long as Putin and his mates don't want people to get the view of others promoted on these sites. I mean, when exactly is it considered as too extreme? How different can the opinions promoted be to what Putin considers as the correct one?

Sites like LinkedIn are also blocked (even if some reasons for the block are even understandable if it comes to protection of personal information). SHould be still an option for people who have no problem with how Linkedin uses the data to use LinkedIn. Russia isn't the daddy of those people who want to use it.

Makes sense.

But why did Russia veto the proposed investigation into the MH17 crashsite? People need answers but Russia wouldn't let us in.

Thats a lie. Russia is the one who requested the investigation. But holland 'investigators' even don't want to gather all parts of the fallen plane. And suing its journalusts who brought some parts from Donetsk.

Your view on the problem is twisted, cause you get the information only from one side. Which is quite biased.

Linkedin isn't blocked. Just tried it. We have strict rules on propaganda of nazism and fashism. For example, mein kampf is prohibited in Russia. So if a site puts it for downloading it will be blocked. If a site owner not agrees he can go to court. And if blocking was wrong, it will be opened again. Nothing too serious really, as usual mass media made too much noise from nothing.

Yes, its problematic and there is no ideal solution for this issue.

Anyway, better to got at least this flawed attemp to counter this, than openly exstreme muslims teachers, promotersin for example West's mosques or schools. This is somehow u should think about.

Fuck, u even have schoolkids that threat to behead the non muslim teachers.  This one is from Sydney.
