Forums - Gaming Discussion - WORST controllers you have used.

Simple what is some of the worst controllers you have used for a console. Remember it's all subjective.

For me.

SEGA Master System. It looks like a NES controller but much smaller and as an adult makes it near impossible to use. Thankfully most my games work with a Genesis controller.

PlayStation 1-3 controllers just suck unless you have childs hands to me. Cramped and small. (DS4 is great tho)

On the opposite end. The Duke OG Xbox. Unless you're Andre The Giant this thing feels like using half a bowling ball as a controller. S controller to me was the best controller that gen.

Nintendo Gamecube. I know most would put N64 but again Gamecube just feels like it's made for someone with very small hands and while it's not all that uncomfortable...it feels wierd.

Atari Jaguar...it's the duke only worse somehow.

SEGA Activator. It's liek Kinect but early 90s version. If you think Kinect is unresponsive..try this thing. NES U-Force is better. SEGA got motion down with the Dreamcast Fishing wand at least and you can player Soul Calibur with it! TAKE THAT Wii!

Lastly. Now I think the Wii works on many levels so I don't hate the overall scheme with Wii. I do hate holding a Wii remote on it's side. Feels like a longer SMS controller.

I can play on anything unless it's ridiculously bad.

Hitting the L/R buttons while using the D-Pad on the 3DS can be a pain in the ass though.

The Wii controller, it was a bit unhandy. For example, it was difficult to press the 1 and 2 buttons while holding it vertically.

I didn't really dislike it though, I just liked it less than any other controller I've played with.

Xbox One controller, Steam controller, Wii U Gamepad. I feel that the best controllers were made last gen, now everyone is just slapping on a bunch of silly gimmicks and designing them all bulky and unwieldy, it becomes annoying when every console's pack-in controller only irritates you.

My favorite controllers are Dualshock 3, 360 controller and the N64 controller, it just fit my hands perfectly and the Z-trigger was genius.

I'm not too picky when it comes to controllers. The N64 however was plain awful.

The Ouya Controller. Hands down, the worst first party controller I've ever touched. The buttons stick, the touchpad is to sensitive and inaccurate, and the d-pad isn't even good for side scrolling 16-bit titles. At least it lets you use other console controllers via Bluetooth.

I've had some shitty third party controllers in the past, too. Especially in the SNES and PS1 days.

*Edit* and why in the hell can't I use a Pro Controller when playing Snipperclips!?! I'm a fucking giant of a man. A single Joycon is the size of my thumb! Two Joycons are actually quite comfortable in the Joycon grip but alone? Heck no.

I found the Dual Shock 2 extremely uncomfortable, and even painful during extended(2+ hr), sessions. The DS3 isn't really much better. Even the dirt cheap gamecube controller I bought from Walmart was more comfortable.

I know that a lot of people will disagree but Xbox 360 controller. Because of D-pad. Which is awful for 2D platformers.

I only game with official controllers.

And out of all of those, I have to say the N64 controller.

Wiimote. It always felt weird.
