Bets aren't a childish activity. They are commonly the consequence of childish activity, triggered by a loudmouth who is absolutely sure that something will succeed or fail. In many cases bets are about holding someone accountable and that's something that the mod team should support.

As for an image of maturity and respect, that ship has sailed a long time ago. The mods are no strangers to excessive Knack 2 bashing.

Remember that guy who was absolutely sure that the Switch would launch in 2016 during the Civil War bet and then refused to wear his crow avy when he lost? Maybe is time the mods hold him accountable, now that thats their job.

Ahh, that was a saga that I entirely missed out on.

Self bans are granted by the mods right? In that case I see no problem if the person loosing the bet just requests a ban. I don't think there hould be any enforment that goes beyond that. Mods prpbably have enough on their hands.

Yeah, I remember him. He didn't want to sport a crow avatar because there was never a bet to begin with. It's not that he has a problem with honoring bets, it's that a bet needs to exist in the first place in order to honor it.

OK, I am starting to remember now.

Just ban ban-bets.

Mods need to evoke maturity and respect. Participation as "Mods' in these childish activities can distort their image.

I'm pretty sure all the bashing Knack and its sequel get is entirely deserved.

Didn't someone post a pic of their butt for losing a bet? A ban is nothing

No, but the people who got ecstatic because of her butt should have been banned.

I remember the thread now

Onionberry and someone else made a bet- if Red Dead redemption 2 wasn't announced for Switch during the January event, she'd have to post a pic of her butt.

She did so, and some people were rather extra. One person got a warning for saying something inappropriate to her. He then chose to PM her if she's interested in him. Oddly enough, he also went on a rant about her, which resulted in him getting banned. Dickish behaviour from a rude person, which isn't too uncommon.

I'm personally fine with ban bets as long as both parties agree to terms and be good sports about it.

Yes. IMHO it seem like alot of internecine bickering here would be precluded by solid bet enforcement.
People just can't give up "winning", well if there is a solid bet, that's it, one will win, one will lose, period.
Equally if one isn't willing to match somebody else's bet... well, obviously you don't take your own opinion seriously.

No, you can't force someone to go trough their words. Besides, if the bet is made in some controversial measure, who will make the final decision? doesn't the mod team have real problems to take instead?

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."
