In this case I think they would, Switch is a slick device, don't get it twisted, most people buying it are adults and it has been positively received by the hardcore gaming community more or less I would say

Being able to play fairly high end 3D games anywhere is an appealling core feature.

The issue is it's hard to port these games likely without major sacrifices having to be made, particularily to run in portable mode.

There are other games that are doable, but Star Wars in particular I think would be tough.

By hardcore community, do you mean the hardocre nintendo fans? If not, what are you basing this observation on?

Breath of The Wild, Splatoon 2, MK Deluxe and Mario Oddissey are not being released on ps4 or XBO

Does this bold well for their futures?

Nintendo tried to [mostly] rely on first party games alone with the Wii U... Did it do good for them?

Yes, and with the Wii being the exception, it's been going downward since the SNES.

i imagine Destiny 2 will be viewed in the same light as the first Destiny game, so its not a big loss.

Battlefront 2... stick a pin in that one for now. we need a bit more info on it.

Red Dead 2 on the other hand is a big loss for the console, but its not surprising that it wont be on the Switch. Rockstar doesnt exactly like Nintendo all that much.

but despite all this, i still think the Switch will be fine. right now it has enough to stand on to stay afloat. and hopefully by the end of the year more 3rd parties change their mind

As long as you got the big exclusive hitters the came on the 3DS and Wii U to the Switch, then it should be able to do 50mil+
- Pokemon
- MH
- Splatoon
- Mario Kart
- Super Smash
- Animal Crossing
- More Zelda
- and others that I might forgot

But the handheld sales are a lot more stable, with the 3DS selling almost as much as the GBA and the DS selling more than the GameBoy.

Nintendo now only has 1 console anymore, which means they can develop more games for it than for any of their other consoles/handhelds.

Nope. Nintendo still has the 3DS as well.

When they stop producing anything for it, we'll know if the strategy they have for the Switch (one console bringing both of their markets as one) will pay off.

But seriously, this is about as surprising as learning MS is releasing a new Forza next year. Nintendo's found themselves in the same corner they backed Sega into during 3td gen. 'Nuff said.

The Switch can't handle any of these game, at least with the same fidelity that the PS4/XB1/PC can. We've been over this a million times, why beat this dead horse? I don't know any of the specs by heart but one look at all the consoles and you can tell what doesn't go where.

The Switch will live (at least for this first year) entirely on Nintendo IPs, heavy hitters and indies. If the sales are great, maybe some 3rd party stuff will be worth porting over. I'm expecting a lot of announcements at E3. And let's be frank, if you're buying a switch for anything other than Nintendo IPs, just no.
