Forums - Gaming Discussion - None of the blockbuster 3rd party games coming to switch 2017

Switch lifetime figures?

12-15 million 72 7.05%

15-20 million 58 5.68%

20-25 million 78 7.64%

25-30 million 119 11.66%

Way more than the above 694 67.97%

Total:1,021

No announcements have been made... yet. It is still possible that those games will get some announcement come E3. These are games too late in their cycle to toss in resources to a wholly new system that the companies dev engines have not been tested on Switch yet. Once they die down and Switch success is hammered home, we will see these companies announce stuff if it makes sense or they'll just go with future iterations.

Out of those three, I honestly would only think SWB2 is a high possibility and RDR2 is a low possibility. I don't see happening Destiny at all.

In all reality these games won't matter to Nintendo.
1. Nintendo 1st party eclipses these in many ways and drives Nintendo. Zelda, Mario, Pokemon will all sell these levels.
2. Switch is going to get confirmation for the casual mass-market yearly titles such as FIFA, Madden, COD at E3. These types of games are what will get masses to buy for the local multiplayer and portability differences only Switch can offer. These are also games not driven by pixel counts but by their multiplayer gameplay.

WiiU crashed for a lot of reasons including no 3rd party support.
Wii/3DS/DS/etc all did well for a lot of reasons but, 3rd party support wasn't the primary one.

3rd party support is critical to MSony being successful but not to Nintendo. Sure it helps, but Nintendo has proven many times they can be successful without these types of games.

Breath of The Wild, Splatoon 2, MK Deluxe and Mario Oddissey are not being released on ps4 or XBO

Does this bold well for their futures?

Yup. Following the same logic,

if wiifit managed to sell 20m+, no reason why wiifit-S can't.
if SPlatoon managed to sell 4m+, no reason why every new Ninty Ip can't.
if Minecraft managed to sell around 80m copies, no reason why Minecraft 2 or another indie can't.

Yes, all these things are possible, but how likely?

Far more likely than I think anyone would have predicted a few months ago. Switch ain't a Wii U or GameCube right now. It's doing WELL. I think there is more to this then launch hype, because that didn't help get similar results for Wii U or 3DS.

Not exactly. 3ds did well at first, especially in Japan.

Switch is a hybrid, of course it's no wiiu. For every person seeing NX as the next wiiu, there were at least 5 saying it'd do over 50m, so not sure what you're on about.

Star wars battlefront is a game literally MADE of dlc, im glad thats not coming to switch

Right now there are two kinds of PS4/XB1 style games

1.) Games that are basically like PS3/360 games on steroids. Things like sports games, Snake Pass, DQXI, Overwatch, Mortal Kombat, etc.

2.) Games that specifically tap the power of the next-gen with a large budget. Things like Star Wars Battlefront, Red Dead 2, Final Fantasy XV.

Games in category 1 can be ported to Switch, but category 2 likely isn't going to happen. Technically there's only so much a Tegra X1 can do and you're also then getting into the territory of compromising a game so much that is it fair to ask $60 for it next to the other versions.

How is DQXI a 360 or PS3 game. It's not on either of those systems. No main DQ was on either system. It's using UE4. It's as current gen as it gets. DQXI does have a sizable budget. It's one of their flagship series. UE4 is just easy to scale. Also UE4 on PS4 and X1 are comparable. X1 holds up pretty well.

I'm not saying DQXI is like PS3/360 exactly, but "on steroids" sure. No one would use DQXI as a game to demo even the XB1's hardware prowess. It looks a bit better than Zelda I guess (though the animation is janky).

Games like Star Wars Battelfront and FFXV are games you can tell really make the PS4/XB1 break a sweat when running and lowering the resolution still wouldn't make them playable on the Switch.

He's trying to say that PS4 & XOne are missing out on some AAA games too. It won't affect them though, just like the Switch won't be affected by not getting the 3 games the OP was talking about.

Btw, these games would be 3rd party if they released on PS4/XOne.

Sounds like flamebait to me.

It's another leo-j classic in the making.

But will it bold well?

Basically, they are waiting for the Switch to establish its foothold in the market, and it will. It's basically a Wii 2 (or Super Wii if you want to go there) with way more power. The things are selling on par with PS4 rates.

Pretty much what I was trying to say.

I think a reimagined Wii sports
For switch would do wonders.....
