This series continues to prove that the vast majority of moviegoers just need to see explosions, fighting, and/or general ridiculous action to keep them coming back. Good job Hollywood, you've got the formula on lock.

Not really. It proves that the Fast & Furious franchise certainly taps into that demographic, but the combination of the cast the theme of "family" of these characters and the ensemble of the actors is what makes the franchise work.

Otherwise every studio would have a franchise with cars, explosions, etc.

People like the characters, that's why the movie is able to make money.

I would argue that every studio does attempt to rake in cash off of large-budget action movies, such as Fast and Furious. I didn't nor wouldn't say cars were a factor all the time either.

 Thanks China! More dumb shit.

only because others don't release WW same week. For instance MCU movies usually do one week in some overseas territories and then the week after in the US. Without exploiting Walker's death I don't think they can make it to the previous film's total but China sure is growing.

They are not amazing movies but i enjoy them for what they are, its crazy to see how big of a franchise it has become... and while i saw many people saying it should have ended at the last movie, (i myself thought the same) when you see numbers like this its hard to argue why they keep doing more...

Wow. Funny how i have never seen some of the biggest movies ever, have et to watch Avatar, Titanic, and any F&F movie. i must be missing out

Hmm, never seen a movie in the franchise ever.

I should probably do a marathon :p

FYI The first three movies have a completely different vinr than the last five. The first three had more of a street racing vibe. The last five are action movies with fast cars.

These movies are far more popular overseas than in North America.

For example SW8 will likely make 3-4 times more in NA then Fast 8.
