Since the (downgraded) 3DS-port sold so well, an upgraded Switch-port will certainly be popular.

Hopefully a new IP....Something that'll help the Switch use it's considerable infrastructure.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.
Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
If they do another 2D Mario, I hope they use the 2D Galaxy Levels format, those levels in SMG are just the way the 2D platformers should be.
As someone said, a fresh but enjoyable take on 2D Mario. Tight controls, but new worlds and abilities.
I hope it's not another Mario Maker game.
Why don't they leave the NSMB style to Mario Maker, and do something new with the 2D mario?
I'd happily buy a 2D mario game if it doesn't have that annoying music.
didn't have a wii u, never played mario maker, but it seemed awesome. Will eventually get a switch and would love to be able to play mario maker. I think they might do like a mario maker redux type thing where they just port if and add a bunch of stuff. Doesn't seem like there needs to be a sequel, just extras added and on a much more popular console and it'll sell lots of millions.
2D mario for holiday 2018 would be nice.
I would say a new 2D Mario game that isn't Mario Maker, unless they aren't working on Mario at all :p
