Nintendo will Release a Mini-Size Switch, say Citigroup Predicts. i think so too. Here is the text:

Bloomberg: Expect more variations of the Switch as Nintendo Co. continues to refine its home and portable business strategy.

That’s the message from Citigroup Inc., which says the new console is doing well, but is too big to truly combine home and portable gaming for everyone. That’s why they expect the Kyoto-based company to release a smaller version of the Switch in the fiscal year through March 2019, according to analysts including Minami Munakata, Kota Ezawa and Alicia Yap.

“Although the Nintendo Switch can be used as a handheld device, we think smaller children could struggle to use it comfortably in that format due to its size and weight,” the analysts wrote in a April 13 report. “Accordingly, we think Nintendo will launch a lighter, dedicated handheld version of the Switch, possibly to be called the Switch Mini.”

The german side gamefront has also written about it. My personal forecast: 2018 a switch upgrade with stronger hardware / better graphics, 2019 a mini-switch. I hope it. What comes first? What do you think about Mini-Size Switch or Hardware Upgrade? Your thoughts?

Given the history of the DS line, a smaller and cheaper Switch will come first. The DS only really took off with the DS Lite, whereas the 3DS only had consumers shift to the premium end of the line with the 3DS XL and the "new" 3DS line but not actually draw a lot of really "new" consumers.

That, and Nintendo are probably thinking of how to kill off the 3DS line without losing any players.

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Yup, that's exactly what I think, end of 2018. or in 2019. and when 3DS is dead, they will release Switch Mini/Pocket, basically smaller and cheaper version of current Switch just for handheld gaming.

I think they will release a Switch without a dock or grip included.

They could even do a clamshell switch

Could it still dock? If not then it can't be called a Switch as it causes market confusion as it can no longer Switch.

I'd rather them focus on battery life than size tbh.

There will be smaller and bigger models and models with more power in time.

Switch being a singular line and ecoystem allows for it, and Nvidia already has the technological road-map to make all that happen.

They could make a smaller version of the Switch right now using a Tegra X2 because it generates less heat, less could take off the right/left bezels at least, while maintaining a 6.2 inch screen.

That said and I've said this many times ... the current Switch form factor will always be the main form factor (tablet style). It is what best conveys the concept of the Switch and gives the best experience playing full fledged console games anywhere and it's what people want (take a seat 3DS/DS your days are over).

Thats what I will be waiting for, no need to rush in like the Wii U but wait for the games and stuff to happen before buying it and get a better model.

Anyway, I hope so it would be nice.

They could just include an USB-C port/kabel to connect to the tv. An smaller Switch handheld without dock and joy cons would sell really well i think.
