I thought that this needed its own thread, since on the other one the overwhelming ( which is logical ) majority talks about switch version perfomance!

Impressive opening... I was expecting that it would do very well in the USA ( Zelda Land )  but I'm surprised that it did the 50% sales of switch verion, I was anticipating somewhat less.

So the last wii u game will be an easy million seller... ( shipped+digital must be 1m even before the end of March )...It should sell more than 1m in the USA alone. Also, the game might help wii u global software sales to finally hit the 100m milestone!

If Nintendo is willing to keep shipping wii u version copies at least till holidays, we should see the game in the top ten best selling wii u games ( first party ), it only needs 2.1m to manage it!

P.s Do you consider that if there was no switch and BOTW was just a wii u game, could it push a lot of wii u units even at this point?

Strong opening indeed, and 1 million is very likely. However, I doubt it will have good legs. The majority of the Wii U owners will pick up the Switch sooner or later, and the more people own a Switch, the less the Wii U version will sell.

 Splatoon did wonders for the wii u in Japan... Have you forgotten it?

Mario kart 8 too for the west!

Of course that cannot last for as much as  long is needed when the console is overpriced/expensive!

GC price was cutted in 2002 and 2003, -50$ -50$...

Do you believe that wii u wouldn't have a better fate than gc, being at 199$? Price reduction was prohibitive due to the costly tablet controller!

Switch and Switch version of Zelda were understocked, so if there is no stock issuses Switch and Switch version of game would sell more.

Wii U is dead for quiet time now, Nintendo stoped production and sending shipments of Wii U units in 2016.

In any case good numbers for Wii U version beacuse Wii U is dead.

Discountinuing the white wii u 8gb of 299$ and black wii u 32gb price falling to 299$ isn't a real price drop, since there was already a wii u at 299$ ;)...

Indeed, wii u with price drops wouldn't pull a miracle as you implied, but for me it would be important to sell like GC or exceed its sales a bit, especially owing to the attach rates of wii u games,  the more wii u were being sold the more each software was selling... Mario kart 8 could be at 10-12m on a 20-22m selling wii u!

Anyway, agree with how you called wii u ( especially because of the tablet controller ) but I would prefer you to say bad instead of that exaggerating and mean characterization a piece of e.t.c...

 Wii u perfomance in Japan for holidays with splatoon...  Wasn't bad, it sold 300k in December and wii u vanished from the stores' shelves!

 Yeah, that's why I deemed it as impressive... Although, I say killed, because Nintendo curtailed the production in 2016 in spite of having a great momentum for wii u standards thanks to splatoon and super mario maker! GC final year ( year before wii release )  shipments was normal but of course GC was costing 99$ and wii 249$, while wii u costs 299$ as much as switch... ;)

Also, let me correct you, Nintendo has officially stopped the production in Japan in December 2016 and perhaps in Europe too...

You will see in 27th of April that Nintendo shipped wii u units in the past quarter in west, probably the last!

Wii u was all along at 299$ just a white version with less memory capacity!

Anyway, what we discuss my teacher haha... As I aforementioned, slashing the price was prohibitive owing to the undesirable costly tablet controller and nintendo had already lost money because of the vast dead stock of white 8gb wii u version and the clearance of it.

As for the futility of GC price lessening!

GC sold 208m piece of software on a just 22m selling hardware, an astonishing attach ratio of 9.5 ( even though gc had considerable third party support, at least for two to three years ) , so without them, gc which sold close to xbox, could have perfomed like wii u, or even worse since 6th antagonism was more intense!

Didn't expect Wii U to contribute too much in Zelda numbers, but is still a good number, so is expected

Definitely most of the sales will be on the Switch version, and the long legs is what will contribute more as more people pick up the Switch
