That came with a rerelease afterwords. The re-release may have been released before Avatar, but it took more than the initial run to pass 1 billion. Same goes for Phantom Menance and Jurassic Park. Although Return of The King was re-released it still passed a billion on the initial run.

Cinema prices have nearly doubled here since 2002 if you include 3D. Add the resurgence of IMAX and the prices are tripled. It's not even the most expensive D-BOX UltraAVX 3D CAD 23.50. General admission was CAD 7.00 for Goldmember in 2002.
