Yeah it definitely is.  It's like the ps2 / ps3 situation again where ps2 continued to sell awesome even after the ps3 launch. Ultimately the 3DS is still getting good support so many are still buying it. 

Switch and Zelda are holding nicely.

PS4 and 3DS are fighting for 2nd place now it would seem.

'nuff said.

If just "replacing" the Wii U is done by selling only 11'406% better than it then I guess you are right.

3DS is baselining around 20k ... nothing the write home about. GBA continued to sell for a while after the DS too, we know how that turned out.

3DS will fade slowly, there's still some projects in the pipeline still to drop.  Seems the Switch has gutted the Vita though, which is somewhat odd.  But then again the Vita was targetting people who wanted a console-esque experience and the Switch goes beyond that and straight up is a console on the go sooo yeah, actually makes some sense.  

pretty nice hold for switch. i expected it fall into 30 to 35ks. hope it stays above 35k when MK8 comes.

3ds will keep selling, and nintendo will keep the support(as shown in todays direct). they still not have the technology to shrink switch to a handheld friendly size, so, we will have to wait a year and a half to see switch replacing 3DS.

Switch is replacement for Wii U and Vita current, and next year will be replacement for 3DS also but most likely even now lotsa 3DS owners are start shifting to Switch.
