Forums - General Discussion - Man violently removed from United Airlines plane. ~Update~ United may have broken the law.

Really? Did you even read/watch what happened?

First of all it is on the contract for the ticket that he may get removed at this economy class (the ticket) if the plane is full; he knew it and took the risk by buying it... Second, they asked him nicely... And he refused to leave the plane. Then like always in this kind of situation, the airport security removes any person refusing to attempt... And that was far from being "violent" and far from being abnormal... If the guy would not have resisted like crazy, he would not have getting hurt... That's his own fault, they cannot just ignore it and leave him on the plane at the end

Seriously this story and the people reacting to it shows how people today do not want to follow rules or guidelines and feel so entitled... The dude refused to comply to a valid request and then some people are chocked because they forcely (different than violently) removed him from the plane.

I mean, the only thing that sucks here (imo) is the airliner not being so good at managing their seats :) But nothing else. the dude did not comply and he got removed, sucks, but expected...

Sniff...sniff...lawsuit? Do I smell lawsuit?

If that video has any footage, I didn't find it by skimming through it. I'm not interested in watching a 13-minute video just to find a few seconds of footage.

Anyway, the US police system seems to be pretty messed up, and my impression just keep getting reinforced. It's quite worrying when the police force is a problem.

They should always have a few open seats just in case then. They will make less money, but that's their problem. The man had to be somewhere at a certain time. Shitty airline.

What part of my post made you think the issue I have with this is their policy?
It's pretty clear that it's the way he was removed that people have a problem with. Because I'm not complaining about the couple that were removed before him, am I?

And yeah, nothing violent or abnormal about this.

Wish they remove my grandparents this way too.

No... The problem is not with the way... The problem is with HIM resisting and not complying...
What do you expect at some point? they asked him multiple times to leave and he refused. And HE hurted himself by resisting like crazy when they were pulling him out... There is no many way to remove someone from a plane...

1) You ask nicely
2) You ask nicely again
3) You keep acking nicely because you know... Being nice...
4) You call the authorities... And they ask less nicely
5) They most likely try another time...
6) Then what? They pull your out, forcively... And if you resist like a moron, you can hurt yourself... Oh surprise

I mean at some point people needs to get responsabilities for their stupidity...

I'm really sorry for this dude, it sucks being hurt in any way. Really. But it is 100% his fault and when asked to de-plane, just do it. And yes, you said it this nothing to do with the airline policy (which may be dumb or in that case maybe they could have put those employees on the next flight).

But you know what? The funniest part is that the dude is most likely going to sue and win. Because that's how the system works today; it is so dumb....

It is like pulling a gun on a cop and cry later because you got shot... (well in that case it would be the Internet showing pictures of the dead body and being chocked at the "brutality" and how "violent" the police is and then sue the cop, ruin his family, throw him in jail and so on, right?).

lmao. That's what is considered violent? The only that was harmed was that guy's ego. Seems like some are just blowing that out of proportion for the clicks.

7.) Cause his head to slam into an armrest, knocking him unconcious with lots of blood gushing out.

Where do you draw the line? If they had killed him? Maimed him? Would that still be ok? There is a line to be drawn somewhere. And if three cops can't get one elderly man off the plane without busting his skull in, they are in the wrong line of work.

Also, they clearly don't think this was ok, because the police lied about it in their statement, saying that he "fell".
We'll see how many courts will rule in their favor after video evidence showing how he "fell".

The line is simple, when asked to de-plane... De-plane... You comply to any request esp. when issued by authorities... If you want to complain you do it AFTER.
So what do you think the police should do when someone refuses to move? They just let him in, right? Fuck the authorities because the dude feels like this is what's right for him? Can you see how this is a very dangerous point of view?

It was an accident and he resisted and got hurt. They did not throw him on the harmrest. It is 100% his fault.

It's not very clear in that particular video, but his head was slammed into an armrest so hard that he was bleeding and knocked unconcious.

He should have gotten off the plane when he was asked to. He didn't look like he was unconscious to me, He just this defeated look to him. What did he think was gonna happen? Some people think that saying no is gonna make them immune to the consequences of that choice.

He paid for the plane ticket. He shouldn't have any obligation to leave.

Did he buy the plane? No. Did he buy the company that owns the plane? No. He has no say on if he can stay on the plane if they ask him to leave for whatever reason. If a plane ticket paid for passage and a right to be a dick then everyone would fly.
