I'm realizing how stupid the salary cap is. Imagine if any other business put a limit on how much money their workers could make. And before people complain about athletes making too much, remember that their owners are already rich and they make tons of money from the sport!

Capitalism is great, isn't it brother?

Money is the problem for this. A salary cap makes the owners as rich as possible while paying the athletes as little as they can. On the other hand no salary cap means lack of parity where the richer teams are always ahead.

I guess it's a bit more complicated than that, as it's tied to league revenue and there is a salary floor, but yeah, it's not an ideal situation either way.

NHL is considering banning timeouts after an icing. I think this change is pretty likely.

Is it even possible to do it for this season? Isn't it too late for that?

Player saleries are generally risining every year, are they not? I don't think the cap has hurt players that much. Just my 2 cents.

Calgary refuses to build a new arena, NHL warns them the Flames could relocate. I hope the city of Calgary doesn't balk.

NHL preseason starts today, not too big of a deal. The real deal starts in October.

NHL season begins tomorrow with the Jets and Maple Leafs.
