Anyone remember the chemical attack in 2013?
Just a reminder for those who may have forgotten, or only know the half-truth that the mass media spread back then:

In EARLY 2013, there seems to have been an attack with chemical weapons (probably Sarin) in Syria. You may not have heard about it, because the western mass media hardly even reported about it.

In response to that incident, the syrian government themself requested the UN to send in chemical weapons experts that should investigate the incident. Their motivation for doing so is easy to understand and quite obvious: They were absolutely convinced that it was the terrorists ("rebels" in western mass-media language) who were illegally using chemical weapons; and being aware that the western mass-media would not believe their own words anyway, they wanted neutral chemical weapons experts from a UN institution to prove that the terrorists were illegally using chemical weapons, knowing that the western mass-media could not simply dismiss the investigation results of neutral UN experts.

But their request at the UN for sending in neutral chemical weapons experts was blocked, or at least extremely delayed, for MONTHS. Which is quite ridiculous in itself, because the longer one waits after a chemical weapons attack, the more impossible it is to investigate the incident and to prove anything.

Then, finally, MONTHS after the syrian government requested the UN experts, their request was finally approved - but with one severe restriction: The chemical weapons experts were strictly forbidden to investigate or even comment on who was responsible for the chemical weapons attack, they were only allowed to investigate IF chemicals weapons had been used.

So in late 2013, the UN/OPCW chemical weapons experts that the syrian government themselves invited, finally arrived, in order to investigate the use of chemical weapons earlier that year, which was almost impossible due to the long time that had passed since.
But strangely, just two or three days after those chemical weapons experts arrived, a new chemical weapons attack happened in Syria (Ghouta) - which western mass-media instantly blamed on the syrian government.

So the UN experts investigated that incident as well, came to the obvious conclusion that anyone already knew (that chemical weapons had indeed been used), but were still strictly forbidden to investigate who was responsible for the incident. What a strange coincidence...

So basically, the western mass-media successfully made us believe that the syrian government was so downright stupid to carry out a chemical weapons attack exactly in those few days when the UN chemical weapons experts, which they themselves invited, were in the country. One must believe the syrian government to be insanely stupid to believe this.

Needless to say, back then many critical thinkers and intellectuals pointed out that this just doesn't make sense, that it's way more probable that the terrorists were responsible for the chemical weapons attack. For example, the world-famous investigative journalist Sermour Hersh (well-known for example for making the My Lai and Abu Ghraib scandals public) wrote a great article about it - but every single mass-media he contacted refused to print it. And later, many other institutions also came to the conclusion that it is extremely probable that it wasn't the syrian-government, but the terrorists, who were responsible for the attack. But apparently, those are minor details that the mass-media believes you should not or do not need to know...

There hae been many aligaintion of Syria using chemical weapons in the past in some cases dropped from helicopters and using equipement the rebels and terrorists were unlikely to get hold of.

In 2013 there were reports of a large scale chemical attack with thousands of casulties in Damascus.

Only days after the attack the un said they wanted to send independent investigators and only a couple of days after that Syria let them in. They were unable to investigate all the sites because of snipers but they found a lot of victimes.

John Kerry Claimed Assad was behind the chemical attack and Assid claimed it was terrists.

The UN did report on the large scale attack but didn't assign blame as it wasn't in their mandate.

In 2014 Syria handed over large quanities of chemical weapons.

In 2016 the OPCW did report that they were confident that ISIS did use sulfure mustard in one attack. However, another report that year, by both the UN and OPCW, found that the Syrian government were responcible for chemical attacks in Talmenes in 2014 and in Sarmin in 2015.

I wouldn't believe a word John Kerry or John Mccain say. They are 2 demons out of the pits of hell

On the other hand Assad is known for being a hero and saving christians against the  jihadists that Mccain met with a few weeks ago

Looks like the attack has been quite the failure. According to Russia only 23 missiles reached their targets and some photos show at least 1 aircraft shelter being completely intact, just like 1 of the runways.

If the objective was to completely destroy the airbase then they've failed massively.

Very disappointing.

Is that where you get your politics from? ifunny.co?

Err, I get them from the BBC and I agree with the poster. I still reserve judgment both on Trump AND Assad, but think he was beyond reckless by responding to violence with MORE VIOLENCE.

If his bottom line is that Assad can stay for now but has to retire when everything is said and done, I will live with that. Better than evicting people from their seat of power.

As for this, it seems Senate and House congressmen are even MORE divided, since the Dems said he should've asked for permission and the Republicans are torn between cheering and telling him off for starting another war like President Weed.

And Le Pen said no, which only solidifies my support for her...

US needs to stay out of the middle east period. Especially since it can barely handle itself

if assad had chemicals do u think trump would of fired cruise missles exposing the whole country to chemicals

Sarin gas is largely destoryed when exposed to explosion, that's why any reports the gas leaked after a bomb hit a rebel gas container are implausible

Well, thank god you lost, Hillary.

Funny how the "it' in your sentence can correctly refer to either the Middle East or America

"Staying out of it" was one of his campaign promises that appealed to Americans and Non-americans alike. The following dramatic read represents the death of the last ray of hope in Trump's presidency.

http://dailycaller.com/2017/04/06/whats-changed-president-trump/?utm_campaign=atdailycaller&utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=Social

What’s Changed On Syria, President Trump?

What’s changed, President Trump?  During the campaign, you promised not to embroil the United States in the Middle East’s petty wars.  You correctly stated that we have no clue who the Syrian rebels are.  You wisely argued that as bad as dictators like Bashar al Assad may be, they at least keep terrorists at bay.

What’s changed?

President Trump, you were the one who bucked the entire establishment.  While everyone else’s brains turned to mush upon seeing a picture of a bloody Syrian boy, you wisely reminded us that America must come first; that it is not our job to fight everyone else’s wars; that with 19 trillion dollars in debt we literally cannot afford to make it our job; that an American president’s duty is to his own people, not to the world.

Mr. President, please don’t become Bush III.  All we need is more intervention in the Middle East.  You yourself said that if our politicians had done nothing during the last 15 years – that if they had just gone to the beach – we would be better off today.  What’s changed?  Why get involved in this Syrian mess?  Why oppose a man fighting radical jihadists?

Our real enemies are a rising fanatical China and radical Islam.  So match China’s belligerency with a military buildup and do everything in your power to keep radical jihadists out of this country.  Everything else is a distraction.  Embroiling America – militarily and/or financially – in yet another Middle East conflict will ultimately accomplish nothing for this country.  War is tragic.  Innocents die, sometimes in horrific ways.  But please don’t compound the problem by allying with Syrian rebels who would do a lot worse than gassing if they were in power.

You campaigned on the slogan “America First.”  Please stick to that promise, President Trump.  That’s why we voted for you.

You forgot Afghanistan. I think the reaper came to Pakistan as well but they were already somewhat a democracy and nuclear power so it got angry and started throwing drones at us
