I'm sure people will argue the reviews are actually not that bad, but lets be honest. This was a highly anticipated release, many reviews came from old Rare fans, and the reception is modest.

But the game is proof of concept, Playtonic can deliver this style of game, and the the reception to Yooka Laylee can help them create something better. This is the time for MS to throw some money at Playtonic and get a BK game.

If Yooka Laylee reviewed and sold amazingly well, they probably would have no interest in working with MS. But based on how Yooka Laylee turned out, they may be open to funding regardless where is comes from.

More importantly, even if a new BK sucks it would be fan service and Rare fans could quiet down!

And hopefullly down the road we get Nuts and Bolts 2.

This is kinda why I'm kinda leery on these indie games ... they generally usually don't turn out that great or are 7/10 type games. You need the backing of a bigger studio especially for 3D games to have the proper staff and budget with oversight to make a really great game.

All the released banjo games are generally better both critically and from user reviews so far, so yes a new banjo could deffenitely work. ;)

Many old platformers were way overrated back when they were released, their potential sequels will get tarnished by the critics just like Yooka Laylee

Why should it be a critical failure, 7 is a good score. The only review score that really counts is the user score made by the backers. And all Rare games were delayed multiple times by Nintendo to improve the quality, because resources were unlimited. If MS funds the game if will get an even lower score because it will have to be rushed.

And I don't think the old plattformers were overrated, games like Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie they are still among the best games I played in my entire life.
