Forums - Sony Discussion - Persona 5 has shipped 1.5 million as of April 4th

http://p-ch.jp/news/detail/?nid=535

Last numbers for Japan were around 550k so it shipped around a million overseas.

Wow look at all these niche games that don't sell, selling better than some western games.

How is Persona a niche game? If that is a niche game, would something like Shin Megamo tensei be too?

Well for one Persona is a spin off of SMT and if we're going by VGC numbers, it sells worse than Persona, so yes, it's a niche series.

That's insane!!

Many people doubted it would do 1m lifetime worldwide lol!

How is an RPG about Japanese school kids not a niche game?

And yeah, SMT is niche too!

I gotta get into both series.

I got Yakuza 0, and I will never regret paying 60 dollars for that game. Persona and SMT are probably next on my list then, although I am not too sure where to start

I feel like there was a thread where we predicted Persona 5's sales in the west but I can't find it!

Nah, once Persona 4 Golden had surpassed 1m it was clear the franchise had grown and P5 was all but a guarantee to sell 1m+.

How much does a franchise need to sell not to be considered niche anymore?... good to see it doing well anyways.
