Is Wii U worth it?

Yes, now that it has its crown jewel. 36 16.00%

Yes, it already was a sys... 126 56.00%

Nope. 63 28.00%

It was worth since Holiday 2013 in my opinion!

But I got it at launch!

Switch!!!

Yes, but not at the prices many stores are trying to sell it. I saw a MediaWorld (MediaMarkt in other EU countries) clerk trying to persuade a clueless parent (or relatively young grandparent) to buy it as a Xmas present full price two weeks after Ninty announced it was ending production. And even now, months after, prices, although lower, are still too high.

So many options nowadays to play games. You really need to work out what games you want and if you need portability. wii u runs wii u and wii games plus gamecube games and emulators for older systems if you homebrew it. Graphically its not far below Switch. You could also ask the question is it worth getting a 360, ps3 or other older system if you have never owned one and experienced those games.

I certainly feel its a better gaming system currently than Switch and that might be the situation for a couple of years in my opinion anyway but then portability isn't important to me. Just because a console is being supported with new games doesn't automatically make it superior to a console that already has a wide range of highly rated games because if you haven't played those games they would be new to you anyway and this is especially true where the performance level of the consoles is very similar.

At this point? no, not worth.
Unless you can get a used one thats in good condition for like 100$.

I have a Wii U, it was worth it for me, but I got it early in the gen. I cant recammend someone get a dead platform, with a small library at this point. Not when so many Nintendo games will probably end up with ports on the switch.

Yeah it's just worth it now. I feel satisfied.

Mario Party 10 alone was worth it.

Now that it has its centrepiece in Breath of the Wild, I would say that overall I'm satisfied with my Wii U.

You're one of the few in this thread that actually comprehended the question.

Most posters have missed the point of the thread. I'm not asking if it is a good purchase today, with the system already replaced by its successor. I'm asking, does the system have enough great content to justify having spent money on it, whenever it was that you purchased it. As I said in the OP, "But for the Wii U owners, those who have sat through droughts and some less than ideal game titles, does Breath of the Wild complete the system?" Do you feel satisfied? I compare it to N64, a system that lacked content compared to its rivals. But it did have several absolutely marvelous games that have stood the test of time, true classics. If you purchased it and got to enjoy OoT, MM, SM64, Goldeneye and MK64, you probably have few regrets. Is Wii U similarly satisfying today?

Breath of the Wild is, in my mind, the best game on WiiU (and probably the best game on any system, ever), but I think the system was worth a $300 investment long before that. Nintendo's heavy-hitters and awesome indie games like Shovel Knight, Runbow, and Freedom Planet combined for a nice library.

I blame the title!
