My question is more like, why the fuck are people watching the stream instead of playing it? lol

I'm not watching the streams, but I'm not paying $80 for it.

80 dollars wtf, I got the PS3 version off amazon for like 42 lol

CAD. I don't buy games at retail price, I usually wait until they're at most 25% they're original price.

wooooooooo, sorry about that, maybe CAD will pick up again once the oil prices are not so fucked by terroist cells....

Crude Oil has more to do with the US, than it does any other organization.

Considering it's their IP, I believe they should do whatever they see fit. However, personally I do not see a point to this, I am pretty sure those that do not want spoilers will stay off and gamers that see parts of a games story may still buy it (I am not sure about others, but I have never skipped out on a game because of story spoilers, largely because the interactive aspect of video games is something that cannot be spoiled by watching content), Sometimes these things create more of PR disasters than they are worth (I know it is not exactly the same, but one needs to look at how much slack Nintendo took for their stupid streaming policies.)

It would actually be better if they were fucked by terrorist cells. The low oil prices is what made the Canadian dollar drop, can't compete with cheap middle east oil.

Oh wow, they really want to prevent spoilers

Would be difficult to enforce though

I love how we've gone from Streaming to being a good thing, becoming more commonplace, to it apparently being a bad thing. You don't have to watch the streams, inf act those of you who don't want to see said streams and siding with Atlas should actually be playing the game, not paying full attention to those who wish to stream their gameplay.

Games are not movies, don't even try tying them to another form of media and calling them exactly the same with another form's rules.

I love how games go from being called movies to walking simulators back to games back to trying to be movies again.

Fair use still has to be fleshed out for video games, yet it most likely will not include streaming a game from start to finish. I assume the Streams they want to shut down are the ones making money from them?

What can I monetize?

Video game content may be monetized depending on the commercial use rights granted to you by licenses of video game publishers. Some video game publishers allow you to use all video game content for commercial use and state that in their license agreements. Likewise, videos showing software user interface may be monetized only if you have a contract with the publisher or you have paid a licensing fee.

Yet it's still a grey area with a rather huge loophole

Video game content may be monetized [without consent] if the associated step-by-step commentary is strictly tied to the live action being shown and provides instructional or educational value.

It's a new area in copyright law and so far companies have condoned let's play videos as a free form of advertisement. That doesn't mean it isn't in their right to put a stop to it. Yet by condoning it for so long they'll now have a much harder time trying to enforce copyright.

You could google "persona 5 ending" right now and read about it or watch it on facebook live or any streaming service, the fact that Atlus are threatening to use the broken contend ID system to fuck over peoples channels over this game is pathetic and terrible for PR with the people who basically advertise their games for free.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

That's a bit extreme, but I can see where they're coming from. I remember Sakurai voicing similar concerns with Smash Bros and the Subspace Emissary storyline. With youtube and twitch these days, it's so easy for important story elements to be spoiled, even if you just want to see some gameplay. That and just watching the game online, rather than playing it.
