Considering that Nintendo has been in the business longer, it is expected. However, Sony's momentum might overtake in the next 5-10 years.

3 systems above 100 Million. What other company can say this, Nintendo takes chances and that is why they are so great :) |
sony will be able to say it when the ps4 gets there. Very good performance by both companies.

Closing a gap of 200m in ten years necessitates an average gain of 20m per year. The PS4 doesn't sell at that level and Nintendo will obviously sell more than absolutely nothing. Additionally, if we only count hardware sales from the point in time when Sony entered with the PS1 in late 1994, the #1 is Nintendo. |
well I did say might. lol
Can someone explain to me why G&W is never included in the amount of hardware Nintendo has sold? Even Wiki avoids to include it?Is there a reason for that?

Meaning if we took away the sales of the NES, SNES and Gameboy?
That would leave Nintendo with 470.25 million whereas Sony is at 500 million though wouldn't it?

The SNES still sold like 10 million and the Game Boy sold somewhere between 60 and 70 million after the PS1 came out.

That doesn't take into account Gameboy sales after 1994 which recieved a huge increase from the Gameboy Color's release in 1998. SNES sales also since it only released in late 1990 and the N64 didn't release til mid 1996.

I guess so if we're looking at it that way. I misread and thought it mean to only count the sales of systems that were released after the point when the PS1 first entered.
