Oh boy, you clearly don't know much to make that comparison.

Sega pushed the Saturn out too soon (no announcments), high launch price, they pissed off retailers, and developers struggled with the complex hardware. Saturn only sold like 10 million units.

Dreamcast had a more reasonable price and hype but by the time it launched everybody was already excited about PS2. That's where much of the support was partly because Sega literally pushed away 3rd parties like EA. Again, they only sold like 10 million units.

Xbox on the otherhand actually embraces 3rd party support, has much of the same library as PS4 (unlike Sega console when competing with Sony), and MS waited longer to push a power focused console than Sony.

You say MS is struggling so they're releasing a more powerful console, so what's Sony's excuse for the Pro console? Oh right, you're just grasping at straws.

I think we all have bias, it's fine to point out our preferences.

I can't make sense of BS like that though, just asinine. I also find it obnoxious when people a console "doesn't have any games I want to play" but boast about every semi-notable exclusive on their prefered platform. "Forza is soooooo boring, but Driveclub is where its at!" For some reason people can only enjoy a game if its on a certain plastic box, its stupid.

Sure it is ... the other problem is that sony this gen only got 3 good exclusive games in 3 1/2 years, the others which are "ok" are only theese japano stuff where 90% of people in the western country are dont interested in....... while Microsoft got a big bunch of console exclusives (for western market) this Generation on xbox one!

sony will win out on games, the diffference on true 4k vs checkerboard 4k is very minimal and would really matter. what will mater is games and services which sony has the better. most games multiplat will be identical as they currently are mostly and the premium console versions are likely to be similar mabey a nod to scorpio. will be interesting to see what happens but one things for sure the xbox one console is far too much behind the ps4 now. most people will purchase ps4 and xbox one over ps4pro and scorpio

There are 2 reasons for this gap:

1. The RoD of the X360

2.The ms press conference at the e3 in 2013

The point i was making is there will be stuff in the Scorpio that will be new tech as the OP suggested. Logically, that tech side it is new will cost more than the old tech. The older tech in the Scorpio, there is more off / better revision of, which again could drive up cost. 

 

I don't think MS or Sony are wanting to make a loss and I don't think they will want to take a hit on a mid gen update and then again in a few years with a next gen Xbox. 

 

If the current most premium Xbox, 1S 2TB model is between £300-400 in the UK, I find it hard to believe that an even more premium with double the specs of a PS4P, latest AMD tech and a UHD player will cost the same or less than its 1 year old premium product, or the 1yr old rival with half the tech. 

 

Unless you saying MS are willing to take a $50-100 loss on each Scorpio sold.

If PS4 Pro is $399, the scorpio will be 399 as well.
