I think these refreshes are meant to be a niche product. Just like Microsoft said they don't expect Scorpio to outsell Xbox One, but it's a console more just for discriminating tastes, not meant to be a high seller.

Until a few weeks ago, the PS4 Pro was outsold on European amazon all the time, so I would consider it as a huge success. The only reason why the old model sells better is that it only costs half the price.

The PS4 is still tracking better than the best selling console of all time. The XB1 is doing fine and nntendo seems to have right their ship with the switch and yet the console market isn't healthy?

The 4K TV market also goes alongside the PS4 Pro market. I mean, who's gonna get a Pro if they're set only does 1080p? I bought a 4K TV last week and days later decided to get a Pro. That decision most people won't find necessary.

Provides no evidence. I have a PS4 Pro myself and all my friends upgraded as well from PS4 to PS4 Pro, and yet there is no way I can say the PS4 Pro is a success, because its not about a preference, its about facts.

What if Sony's real intention (as stated by themselves in various several multiple occasions) is to prevent the fan-base to be divided by having different models?

We may never get to know how many more PS4 Pros are being sold compared to other models, just like we never knew how may more PS4 Slims were being sold compared to the base model.

Dont expect a Base model vs Slim model vs Pro model anytime soon or maybe never.
