First things first you need to understand that there isn't a "main console" or any other sub category. There is just a PS4.

Second that a $250 box will always sell better than a $400 box especially when both boxes are playing the exact same games. The real question isn't which version of the PS4 do you want, but rather how important is 4k or higher resolution gaming to you? cause thats all the Pro offers over the base PS4.

Lastly, you are spreading misinformation by saying amazon "no longer sells them" its fairly obvious that sony just doesn't make as many of them as they do their base model, and for good reason.

But keep thinking what you are thinking if if makes you feel any better.

Why do you think it failed? Has Sony lost anything? Looks to me they overall increased PS4 sales and they're most likely making money off of every PS4 Pro. So where exactly is the fail here?

I am very pleased with my PS4 Pro, so I definitively hope that in the future more of the upgrades will be available. I think Horizon is a good example of things to come with the Pro. I think Sonys decision to support 4K and HDR with the console at a time when most of the TV's don't have these feature was brave one. I was not planning to upgrade my TV just yet, I will wait for the OLED TV prices come down.
