Horizon Zero Dawn

Amazing game! 378 72.14%

Very good. 88 16.79%

Bad game. 58 11.07%

Currently playing mad max. First open world game since Horizon. I actually love the game. My only complaint is the game engine. Graphics are good but things far away are washed out a bit. If they were as tech savy as guerilla with Horizon mad max would have been mind blowingly good.

It's still fantastic though and that's my only critic. I guess Horizon has raised my graphical standards for open world games.

*grabs popcorn*

Needs more butter......and we might need more popcorn in general...

OT: Geesh these 2 games have caused a lot of.....discussion that's for sure lol.

They are two similar styled, but two very different games.

Horizon is the better game if you prefer Action / Adventure, almost flawless combat (more dynamic spear combat in the sequel), and simply craving something new and original (built upon established gaming concepts).

Zelda is the better game if you're looking for an Adventure / RPG, with survival elements, and taking your time and enjoying and experiencing a game world, with some great gameplay mechanics.

Two amazing games, which is better is simply down to preference.

More popcorn is always welcome.

I wonder how many years will Aloy's Earth take to re-discover popcorn, btw, lol.

Well you will be proud I am starting Horizon this weekend. It will be my next game from my back log.....then Ni-oh.....then Persona 5.....then Nier.....then Disega 5......plus more sigh.....

What does that have to do with what he said?

Why do you rely on the opinions of others rather than formulating your own? Metacritic does not override personal perference.

Well, opinions I guess. For me the combat is a bore, very limited and requiring little to no skill even on the hardest difficulty. Like most open world games once you fill in a bit of the skill tree, you're unstoppable. If they make a sequel I'd like to see them expand more on forcing you to strategically remove certain parts of machines or knock them into certain status states to open up internal components and maybe machines that have dismemberment. Like I can blow the leg off a strider. Also, hopefully the sequel makes far far better use of terrain during combat. It would add a whole new level of depth and one that is much needed but I can only recall 1 maybe 2 situations where I felt inclined to use the terrain to my advantage.

I don't get the "new/original" either, it's a good game but it is extremely generic in terms of open world game design. I do agree with how you didn't call it an RPg though, I've seen a lot of people calling it an RPG.... they're being very loose with the genre imho. Oh and another improvement for the sequel, branching paths in the story with convo trees with actual story consequences.
