Forums - PC Discussion - TV vs monitor & 21x9?

I'm trying to figure this one out, guys.  I have a 144hz monitor, and a new 4KTV.

The monitor is faster.  Yes, I'm aware of this.  How much faster is the question.  With both of them running at 60FPS, the difference in time is 33ms.  So, what's that? 2 frames?

When I set my monitor to 144hz, the difference increases to 66ms.  But, frame time is different.  So, is 4 frames on the 144hz setting going to feel like a little under 2 frames vs the 60fps on my 4KTV?  All this is just making my head hurt, so I figured I'd just ask someone.  Is it tipical for HDTVs lag to vary based on rather or not it's on 1080, or 2160?

I still don't have my GTX 1080 Ti.  I wanted to do more testing, but my current GPU has no HDMI 2.0, wtf.. -_-

However, 2 frames of lag at 60hz...  on a 50 inch 4096 x 2160... That's... good, right?  Sorry, I'm just bragging, now.

The original plan was to get a 21 x 9 monitor... Until I saw the prices, wtf?!  So, I figured, I could get more pixels for about the same price and make sure it's a really good, fast TV.  And, fast forward to today, when I actually have time and energy to fool with the TV... 7 days later, I boot up overwatch, and use the 21 X 9 setting...

No idea why people complain about the black bars on the up and down...  That's reserved screen realestate that can be used later.  With 21x9, there is no later, and you'll still have black bars on the left and right when you watch 16 x 9 images anyway, so it's dumb to complain about.

Is there a way I can set things up to be 21 x 9 in games, and 16 x 9 for everything else?  Only overwatch makes it easy... which I heard decreases your feild of view and actually just cuts off the top and bottom.  I was so amazed by the title screen, that's as far as I went.  I know the GTX 1080Ti will let me do it, but I wont have one until next month.... in april... and I wanna do it now... Why isn't this an easy window's 10 feature?...

The plan with the GTX 1080 Ti is, max settings and get 144FPS, or do 4k@60FPS.. or, I hope I can max everything out..
