I can think of no better reference for such a tragedy :(

"I have seen things you people wouldn't believe. The Leviathan on fire on the shoulder of Gaia. I watched Contact Beams glitter on the snow of Tau Volantis. All those moments will be lost in time, like a thumbnail drive dropped in the toilet. Time... to corrupt."

Hahaha, and yes, I took that line from the movie. Watched it recently for the first time properly.

I'm still trying to grasp what I have lost... And I am unable to install firmware on the new 1TB hdd, I do everything by instruction bet get 'Corrupt data' message. Have tried two different thumbnail drives so far.

Jeez. You can't catch a break with this situation. I've swapped 3 PS3 hard drives and it was smooth each time. Are you sure the hhd you are using is compatible with the PS3?

From what I read any 2.5 inch drive should be compatibe with PS3s, as long as it's formatted to FAT32. I will try to copy the firmware on my PSP, maybe PS3 will like PSP better than random flash drives.

Perhaps my memory is faulty, as the last time I did this was 2012, but I thought there were some drives that were incompatable.

My PS systems auto upload to the cloud daily. Or do you mean that on XB1 it uploads this everytime a new local save is made?

Yeah anytime a change is made to the console whether it's a volume adjustment in the headset, a change to your pinned apps, a new save file is created/changed, etc. it's instantly backed up.

Those cloud saves also follow you to any console your account logs into and are automatically restored instantly.

It's a nice feature.

That's pretty cool. Almost overkill. :) Can't have too much security though.

Finally I was able to install firmware with third try (third usb stick).
