Makes no sense when you realise they'll be putting all those games on PC soon.

Except people would rather buy a home console than a PC nowadays.. pc is a dying platform, as tablets and smartphones get bigger and stronger.... they are likely to take over.... streaming and digital are the way to go....

Sony is wise to offer PS NOW as a gaming version of Netflix.... which is why Microsoft is following with their program

PC is a dying platform?Good lord....

Where have you been in the last few years?PC gaming has been growing for quite awhile.

You are having this kind of problem with the word exactly because of the missuse of the word nowadays. When it is exclusive, it should mean it is exclusive to that platform. If it multiplatform, then it should be listed which platforms they are on.Its not that I dont understand when there is a thread saying how great PS4 exclusives are, that they are "console exclusives".I just find the use of the word innapropriate.

And you could also apply the same logic for when they use just exclusive when its actually "console exclusive", people could be missinformed that that certain game is also available on PC.

How would you write the sentence "PS4 is on fire! The amount of exclusive PS4 games releasing now is just insane, as I know most you know by now :)" yourself?

You couldn't just say "exclusives found on the ps4 and PC". What about ps3? Ps2? Vita? Also DDD from the 3ds is part of 2.8. So we can't call them Playstation or Sony games.

So tell me how you rewrite the sentences that use "exclusive" to include listing EVERY system the game is found on.

Even the statement "the amount of ps4 games" wouldn't be clear they are on the PC. So how would you write a simple sentence - yet reference every system those games can be found on?

Simple. You wouldnt use the word exclusive. Why?Because they arent exclusive.

For games that are only on PS4, you say:"These games are PS4 exclusives!".For games that are playstation exclusive(as in there are versions for PS3 and Vita, you say"These are exclusive to the Playstation family/ PS4 and Vita!".And for games that have a PS4 version, but is not exclusive to the PS4 due to having some version on PC, you say "Available on the PS4!".

I mean, it couldnt get more simple. If in the end a game is multiplatform and for some reason is not available on, lets say, XOne, you say "That game is available everywhere except XOne", or just list every single system. It takes seconds to write that.

We are in a videogame forum. We are videogame enthusiasts. If we are not correct about those kind of games and tend to turn a blind eye just to make a certain system better than it needs, who will be correct about those things? And there is always that one user that dosent know that he could purchase, either for less or it is more convenient for him, a version on the PC.

I'm pretty surprised to see people like him still walking among us. Though I'd also heavily assume his type are the ones that only count AAA games alone and hate looking at indie and other types of games that actually thrive on PC.

Re-read what I wrote and then read your statement "While several definitions say "one" none have stated that it CAN'T be across multiple groups. As long is someone is excluded, something is exclusive." Don't Starve is a good example of one crap platform being excluded which by your definition would alow you to say that of the 10 platforms you listed all can claim the title Don't Starve as an exclusive because one platform is excluded.  Now do you see where your modified definition breaks down? Exclusive means there is only one place to get, watch, read, or play something.

I did re-read it. None of it made any sense. Allow me to quote one of the strange statements I have ever seen

"So by your definition Don't Starve would be exclusive to Nintendo because it isn't on the Ouya and that system is therefore excluded making it a Nintendo exclusive when it can in fact be played on all major platforms ."

Is the game on Sony? Xbox? Pc? Nintendo? Yes. Are those all the Major Platforms? Yes

So how would the game be considered exclusive if it is on ALL major platforms? That is the exact opposite of my definition.

Is Disgaea 5 on the ps4? Yes. Switch? Yes. PC? No. Xbox? No.

Are the PC and Xbox being excluded? Yes. That makes it - exclusive. The act of excluding makes something exclusive.

Did you say major platform exclusive? No. Does that mean we are including ALL platforms then? Yes

Is the Ouya a platform? Yes.  Can you play the game on the Ouya? No. Is the Ouya excluded? Yes. Since a platform has been excluded can all platforms that have the game (even if it's 10 or more) claim the game as an exclusive? Yes.

Does your definition leave nearly every game open to being called an "exclusive" because one platform doesn't have it while ALL the others do? yes.  Does the term exclusive then loose its meaning? yes.

If you are going to call something exclusive (when it really isn't) then you need to define the scope of what is included.  This I think is where you had issue.  You are mixing in definition of the verb with that of the noun or adjective.

adjective

1.
not admitting of something else; incompatible:
mutually exclusive plans of action.
2.
omitting from consideration or account (often followed by of):
a profit of ten percent, exclusive of taxes.
3.
limited to the object or objects designated:
exclusive attention to business.
4.
shutting out all others from a part or share:
an exclusive right to film the novel.
5.
fashionable; stylish:
to patronize only the most exclusive clothing designers.
6.
charging comparatively high prices; expensive:
exclusive shops.
7.
noting that in which no others have a share:
exclusive information.

noun
13.
Journalism. a piece of news, or the reporting of a piece of news, obtained by a newspaper or other news organization, along with the privilege of using it first.
14.
an exclusive right or privilege:
to have an exclusive on providing fuel oil to the area.

verb (used with object), excluded, excluding.
1.
to shut or keep out; prevent the entrance of.
2.
to shut out from consideration, privilege, etc.:
Employees and their relatives were excluded from participation in the contest.
3.
to expel and keep out; thrust out; eject:
He was excluded from the club for infractions of the rules.

PS4 is awesome right now.
Despite being primarly PC gamer, I'm only excited for PS4 games this year

PC not getting Red Dead Redemption 2 this year is much bigger loss than Destiny or Battlefront for me.

Primarily?.

I've always found it a bit random to hear people having to say "despite me being a PC gamer", and then for a lot of the time they go on for something else. I mean I'm a PC gamer and this year has me excited for some games on PC, same for others out there like myself. I know you are different, but I've never had to see people go with that line, as if to excuse themselves or something. We all have our core preferences for what we game on, even for fence sitters as well.

I mean, it couldnt get more simple. If in the end a game is multiplatform and for some reason is not available on, lets say, XOne, you say "That game is available everywhere except XOne", or just list every single system. It takes seconds to write that.

So you'd want this person to go down this and say "These are exclusive to the Playastation Family/Ps2/Ps3/Vita/Ps4"

Or "Vita/PC/PS4" or "PS4/3ds/3ds NL" for EACH game on the list? Because "that one user" is too lazy to look up whether a game is on another platform?

"Hey this Nier Automata is getting a lot of talk, I wonder what it is about. www.google.com. Nier Automata.. "what is this about it being on steam" done and done?

You are on a video game forum and yet feel the need to have to cater to video gamers because they won't know they can search for something?

Yes.

First of all, it wouldnt be as dramatic as you say.You would have to name 3 or 4 platforms max, and that takes about 5 seconds to write. And depending on the subject, that wouldnt even be necessary.Lets say we are discussing about Nier on PS4, and it is stated that on the OP.You wouldnt need to say anything about the PC version, since the discussion is about the PS4 version.Unless you want to bring something up about something particular to that version.

And its about being correct. Its not only about being correct to keep everyone informed about something(because lets be honest, we are the "privileged" in the sense that we know alot about videogames), but its also about using the right meaning of the word.
