a few users on here seem to think so

Crow will be served! This is the 3DS successor. They'll obviously release a slim Switch revision probably without a dock at a cheaper price but it will still be the Switch.

If the Switch can sell this well and continue to sell this well throughout the year without a desperate price cut then it's going to have a good life ahead of it. Saving a price cut for later on will certainly be a better strategy.

Switch doing great, almost same number like combine number of all other consoles on market.
We will see how sales will be next few weeks until MK8D arrives at end of next month, but MK8D will push sales pretty hard in any case, after that ARMS most likly at end of May, and of course Splatoon 2 in summer that will destroy everything in Japan. :)

Anywho, nice bump for the Switch. I guess they got more stock in. If they can keep them on shelves, it will do well, especially if portable franchises like Pokemon and Monster Hunter show up on it. Seriously, Pokemon Stars (or whatever the next main series Pokemon game is) needs to be Switch exclusive. Nintendo ought to not bother releasing any more Pokemon games on the aging 3DS. The Switch needs to be a full replacement for not just the Wii U, but also eventually the 3DS, to fully justify the hybrid concept and maximize its sales potential.

I wholly agree with you, but that will not be the case. GameFreak doesn't seem to jump onto new consoles very quickly. X/Y came to the 3DS two years after its release and B2/W2 released on DS after the 3DS already came out.

However, I do find it odd that GF never bothered with a third iteration of X/Y. Maybe they did away with it in an attempt to get Sun/Moon out quicker so there could be a cross-gen release of Stars.
