I don't really understand the logic of this sentence and the following list of games, you're comparing a console released in 2013 with a platform that has games going back decades. Are you suggesting that people chose to buy a PS4 or PC solely on high budget exculsives?

I'm suggesting that the PS4 is better because it has more quality exclusives. Comparing the PC's decades long back catalog to a console that launched in 2013 isn't a fair comparison at all. A better comparison would be to line up exclusives year by year. What games did PS3 get in 2007-2013? What games did PC get in those same years? Were any of those games well recieved by critics? I think, when you answer these questions with an open mind you find that the PS3 beat the PC in it's heyday. Same goes for the PS2 vs PC games from 2001-2006, and PS1 vs PC games from 1995-2000.

The thread asks if PC is a safer choice due to the volatility of the console market. Of course it's a loaded question to begin with. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loaded_question The console market isn't volatile and hasn't been for 30 years. Sony has been pumping out quality content at a steady rate for the last 20+ years. My statement and list was an attempt to show that Sony is just as strong and safe a bet as ever.

So it's a loaded question and thus PC isn'ta safe purchase at all because it doesn't have any number of quality games as consoles have been beating PC every single year for well over a decade?.

Somehow I don't find that a fair comparisson at all. You won't include the list because you think that's not fair, yet your way of listing things has put PC at the backseat for mroe than a decade without any fighting chances at all, as well as calling the entire thread a loaded question.

Well... I like playing console exclusives from MS, Sony, and Nintendo.

PC doesn't have any exclusives I personally care about... so I buy consoles. Also, consoles aren't that expensive if you wait a few years.

Quite frankly, I just couldn't get the experiences I want being a PC gamer and I think my sig shows that.

To answer the question in your title, no. I think that a person should buy the consoles and/or pc that has the kind of games that they want to play regardless of how well their favorite platform is doing. It's the same if a person should buy a console versus a pc. Regardless of which one someone buys, you'll never know how well the platforms will be supported so it's a gamble no matter what.

PC is a safer purchase simply because it's a general purpose device, and HW power has reached levels that even a low-end gaming PC will be enough for most home and office use, web surfing and mail for ten years or more, and it will be able to play even very old games, if the newer OS' allow it, as the concept of generation is very blurred on PC, and games are almost always compatible with more than one version of Windows (or OSX or Linux), and last, but not least, you can give new life to an old PC with HW upgrades.
But console generations, at least for successful consoles, aren't short, SW houses always make games that are compatible with the entry-level model of any supported console, while successive premium versions possibly, but not always get just improved graphics, so, as long as a console is successful enough, you won't throw your money down the sink, sure they have a shorter lifetime than a PC, if you consider upgrading the latter, but it won't be a life too short anyway.

An comparison of (high budget) exculsives is not a fair comparison because it dismisses the strengths that PC has, especially in this current console generation. Investing in PC gaming right now will net you a large portion of the Xbox library thanks to Microsoft's shift to a universal Windows 10 platform and an increasing number of games that have been traditionally exculsive to Sony platforms, especially Japanese games. The biggest strength of consoles will lie with their exculsives, but that's not the whole story.

I'm not too sure why you use Sony's output to suggest that console markets are not volatile since they are a first party company and Playstation has always relied on third parties. Last generation was a pretty volatile time because of the shift to HD and the complexity of the PS3 hardware leading some developers going green, at least in the beginning. Is that not an example of volatility in the console market?

Every time a thread like this comes up, you can be sure that someone will use this hilarious logic.

"Oh, it's not fair that the PC has near-perfect backwards compatibility with virtually every PC game released in the last 20 years, so I'm going to compare a small section of the PC library to the entirity of my favourite console's library! That will be fair!"

No.

One of the strengths of the PC as a platform is that it can play a much wider selection of games. You don't get to arbitrarily exclude one of a platform's biggest advantages just because your favourite platform can't hope to compete in that respect. The PC has a wider library that goes back much further than any console, and it's something that any PC gamer can take advantage of. This adds value to the PC and it's totally fair to bring up this fact in any comparison between the various gaming platforms.

You always try to pass this re-writen fantasy filled history of yours as fact.

They're assumptions on your part, not facts.

Now the insults come lol internet. Show me a successful touch screen gaming device before DS. The dual screen Sony tablet exists and can look it up yourself. I know the gaming industry and it's history very well. Also helps to have game dev friends. Don't tell me you think PlayStation exists because of the Nintendo collaborations exists only. So you would think I am lying when Tom Kalinske in a interview revealed what actually happened. Sure I gues he is lying as well. Vita is literally a response to Nintendo. Anytime Nintendo or SEGA try something new Sony was their to emulate it or take some essense of it. You probably one of those who think PS2 was the first with a camera. Not knowing aout Dreameye. How about Vectrex being the first system with Analog in 1982.  The Wii ripping off another system called the Xavix and funny enough the thing is still being made. Sure all that is just assumptions sure yes.

Done with this thread period.

He makes vids for my channel sometimes on mechanics and narratives in games. He worked at R* for years but now working on a game called Treachery in Beatdown City. His name is Manuel Marcano and he is ok with his name in public since I did a interview with him on my channel and he freely gives out his name on my channel. My other friend known for years is quite private but last game I remembe rhim working on was Red Barron for KS but the KS failed. I think he left that company and gone indie. Saw him posting some renders on Twitter. Not talked to him in a bit but known him since he was in HS in 2003.

For the price of a good gaming PC, you can buy all consoles, so you should be covered.

I don't understand this. If you want a budget friendly device that does games, go with an Xbox One. Microsoft has said that all Xbox One exclusives will go to PC.

However, seeing as how Nintendo and Playstation games are still exclusive to those platforms, if you play those games, get those consoles. As far as multiplatform games are concerned, go with PC, except in rare cases.

Tekken 7, I can't recommend on PC, because the community will be on PS4, and there's no cross play. Batman: Arkham Knight, however has been fixed, and can be played at 90FPS on PC. Fighting games, though, have to be locked at 60FPS, because the gameplay is directly tied to the framerate and thus, dips make fighting games automatically unplayable.

You can most likely get a good PC for gaming for under 2,000... But, for most people, even that price is insane. I'll be approaching 3k territory (not including the TV I just bought) when I soon get my GTX 1080 Ti.
